We've had a pretty severe ice storm here in southern Quebec. When this happens, cables snap under the weight of the ice, or falling trees bring down a whole line of poles. Our electrical company also stages strategic blackouts to balance out the grid. Regardless of why, my electricity and Internet access is fragile today and probably tomorrow. I think I've rescheduled all my planned meetings, but if I am unresponsive today, that's why.

ただまあ、Anthropic にしても、運用レベルで容易にユーザーを監視対象として扱えるし、モデルの作成そのものにアメリカ中心的な価値観を形成させることは完全に可能だと claude も正直に答えてた。モデルが、その作成された国の利益になるように生成されると、小さなリソースで動くモデルはそれを蒸留して作られるからどうしようもないよね、と。

@justdude When we switched to apple products last year in my school, I asked my IT guy what was happening w all the old Dell laptops and he just looked sad. The district has no plan to dispose of them and he'd basically been hoarding them in a closet. He brings me five a week now and I put Ubuntu mate on there and hand them out to kids. I've given out maybe 70 or so now, and have a weekly lunch bunch to troubleshoot and play around

Dolphin started out as a GameCube emulator in 2003. In 2008, experimental Wii support was added. And now, in 2026, Dolphin enters the realm of arcade emulation with support for the Sega, Namco, and Nintendo arcade effort, the Triforce, finally arriving. Want to learn more about the Triforce? Check out our deep dive into the Triforce and how it ended up back in Dolphin! Emulating a new system and library of games for the first time in 18 years is big news, and we'll dive into some details and updates on that later in the report. However, there are two other major additions that would have been flagship changes on their own in any other report. Optimizations to Dolphin's MMU emulation have brought major performance uplifts to games that rely on custom page table mappings. In fact, on powerful hardware, all Full MMU games can run full speed, including the legendary Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike. On the other side of things is a targeted fix that took an inordinate amount of effort. An epic tale that spanned years of frustration. In the end, the incredible efforts of the Mario Strikers Charged community combined with several CPU emulation experts finally cracked the case of a minor physics bug that would normally be impossible to see or test. 対して、TT-Atlantisに搭載されるTT-Ascalonのターゲットは明言されてないけれど、私の印象ではArm Cortex-A77（2019）かCortex-A78（2020）辺りの性能をターゲットにしてるんだろうと感じる。「じゃあApple MシリーズやArm Neoverseシリーズと戦えるコアじゃないんじゃん」と言ってしまえばそうなんだけど、「RISC-Vって思ったより性能出るんだね」と思わせるくらいにはやれるんじゃないかなと思う。

TT-Ascalon（2025）の後にはTT-Babylon（2026）、TT-Callandor（2027? 2028?）が予定されていて、TT-BabylonはTT-Ascalonのマイナーチェンジ版（SandyBridgeからIvy Bridgeみたいな感じ？）で、TT-Callandorが大幅に刷新した新規マイクロアーキテクチャ（NetBurstからCore系みたいな感じ？）らしい。私が先日「世界情勢がこれ以上ひどくならなければRISC-V元年は2030年」と書いたのは、TT-CallandorクラスのRISC-V CPUが実機として出回るのがその頃になるだろうという予想から。

My local free outdoor Shakespeare company in Toronto is doing a fundraiser where they will perform a condensed version of the wedding scene from MacBeth over and over. The more money they raise, the longer they’ll go and the weirder it will get.

It’s free to drop in and watch (but really you should donate if you do). It’s at the Video Cabaret in Leslieville (10 Busy Street, Toronto). The performance will start at 1:30pm on April 12, and run for a minimum of two hours.

Indeed tempted to get one for the wife. It has a good price for the hardware, and we need Windows or MacOS for a couple of programs. Plus the old Thinkpad she has now is stuck on Windows 10 and I refuse to upgrade to 11. And Linux is not really an option for her use case.

SiFive P550もいいプロセッサだとは思うんだけど、「Arm Cortex-A75（2017）の半分以下の面積で30%高い性能」（ chipsandcheese.com/p/inside-sifives-p550-microarchitecture ）が目標なので、Apple MシリーズやAMD RyzenやIntel Coreと絶対性能で勝負できるプロセッサではないんだよね。
