RE: mastodon.social/@glyph/1162203

Glyph makes a good point here -- though I'll say the objections to Doctorow's essay have an intensity that's unwarranted -- but this is 100% spot on.

The number of people promoting LLMs who are in positions of authority, loosely defined, is, truly, insane. The delusional nonsense these people have been spouting for years at this point, which I've heard them spout in board rooms and been gobsmacked by, is...well, insane.

Major, major issue here. These people should know better.

아버지(선왕..이 아니라 선임), 어머니, 아내, 아들, 누나, 매형이 죽고 본인은 큰 부상을 입었다. 개인의 복수심이 어떤 방향으로 흘러갈지 짐작도 안 되는데.

Bi-directional messaging between MeshCore and Meshtastic, using Spectra, a based bridge.

Magic.

I'm doing some refactoring and cleanup, then will make it available for anyone who wants to help me test.

After field testing that doesn't involve me using four radios in my lab, and fixing any major bugs, I'll release more broadly, likely under an MIT license.

Screenshot of Spectra, which is a bridge between mesh radios that are too far apart to talk via radio.

My job role has changed, making me no longer sponsored full time for undirected Rust development. Almost 5 years is a good run and I appreciate what my company has allowed me to do in that time and for still providing me a role at the conclusion of that run.

I will be needing to scale back my role on the Cargo team and the maintenance of my crates. What this will look like exactly? I'm not sure yet. Obvious answers are that I will no longer be writing the This Development in Cargo blog series and giving micro-reports here on where my time is going.

Something that will help is that a focus of mine for Cargo and my crates was to streamline maintenance.

Current status: hoping very much that disabling AppArmor in the kernel doesn't still have terrible bugs like it did early in the life of Ubuntu 22.04, when it gave you charming and fatal kernel memory leaks.

Because guess what we just did on all of our user-accessible machines (in an emergency immediate reboot, I'm sure people are happy about that one).

Friday the 13th, a long walk with a camera (because priorities 📷), and yet… a new release just dropped.

Highlights:
- Better EXIF parsing (dates, Canon tags) - thanks @geobomatic
- Captcha can now protect all registration types
- Disabled actions on old status versions (previous versions)
- Fixed automatic user approval (for approval registration flow)
- OAuth now supports urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob

Also: a fresh for iOS just dropped today. Thanks for all the support! 🙌
