People never understand that activitypub is fundamentally built for public data, any privacy controls have been superglued onto it and basically amount to good will behavior on the part of servers.
There's not actually anything preventing a rogue AP server from boosting private or follower only posts, for example.
Fedi is not the platform for privacy.

The fediverse has email-level privacy. E2EE would be better. And email-style private messaging is actually the default in AP, the special case is public posts. But it is important to know that email-level is, while not strong enough, stronger than eg what exists in ATProto (which doesn't have direct messaging either)
But it's completely true that like with email, you have to trust your server administrator.

@HolosSocial Question: since you control the client and the server, can you also sand off some long held rough edges of the fedierse? See my list of top issues to fix here and it seems to me you might be able to do some of these more directly in your model than fediverse clients and serers operating separately can...

it is for your own good - meta engineering probably 😂 from what i hear the IG app no longer shows your videos or pics to your followers. it is all algo driven. so you are not losing much not having that account. just delete the IG and move on with your life. no point fighting corrupt corporation i guess. fyi, mastodon/fedi offers pic and video sharing without stupid alogs.

It is hard for me to modulate an appropriate level of intensity to respond to stuff like this because the amount of pressure being brought to bear by leaders (both in the business world and in the tech community) is so intense that it’s abusive. And the arguments of public intellectuals attempting to stake out “moderate” positions are absolutely being used as rationalizations for ruining people’s livelihoods and wrecking businesses. Causing measurable harm as well as subjective human misery.
My "project time" this week (when I try to improve something about my business) was spent on investigating how to move from our current blog generating tool, hugo, to
