Much of the discussion around the new lawful access bill (Bill C-22) has focused on provisions that improved upon Bill C-2, notably the decision to scrap the warrantless information demand power by requiring judicial oversight for access to subscriber information. Yet despite that improvement, there remain serious privacy concerns with the government's latest iteration of lawful access. Buried in the second half of Bill C-22 is a provision granting the government the power to require “core providers” to retain categories of metadata, including transmission data, for up to one year. This is mandatory metadata retention that would require telecom and electronic service providers to store information about the communications of all their users, regardless of whether those users are suspected of anything. It is one of the most privacy invasive tools a government can deploy and the international experience suggests that there are major privacy risks.

Yesterday I wrote: "Public institutions are funded by taxpayers' money: their communications serve public interests and should be open to all - without the need of creating social media accounts on proprietary, for-profit closed systems. This is especially salient for European governmental communications: isn’t it absurd that they would require social media accounts owned and run by U.S. based companies?"

Am Dienstag gegen 11.30 Uhr hat eine 37-jährige Frau in Schlitters im Zillertal (Bezirk Schwaz) von der Feuerwehr aus einer misslichen Lage befreit werden müssen. Die Frau war im Schritttempo mit ihrem Auto auf die Rampe einer Mauer gefahren. Das Fahrzeug ist dadurch umgekippt.

교민 여러분 중에 의외로 모르시는 분들이 많은 듯 하여: 의료보험이 없는 분이라도 귀국시 유료로 종합건강검진을 받을 수 있습니다... 교민 건강검진으로 검색하면 많이 나옴. 귀국하자마자 받으시고 결과 나오자마자 문제 있는 데 가서 검진 받으시면 됩니다... 웬만한 비보험 진료비 삼만원 정도임... 웬만한 나라에서 보험 적용한 금액보다 쌈+빠름+잘함+한국어임 결과지와 마지막 진료 내용을 영어로 받아서 집에 와서 주치의에게 전달

This is my sad face when people say they don't understand why Wayland pushed the window manager into the display server. Event processing is extremely connected to the window manager; X goes to significant event handling contortions to enable a separate window manager, and even then the contortions are imperfect.

(For example, no window manager can direct mouse scroll wheel events to the currently focused window instead of the window under the cursor. There are other issues too.)

Two games, both called "Piece by Piece", were coincidentally released within a few days of each other by their developers.

They got in touch with each other, and now both games are available together as a Steam Bundle, because reasonable people can find mutually respectful, no-drama ways to solve problems.

My range of motion in my bad arm has seriously regressed since my last PT appt and now I have a new set of exercises.

Therapist says I can do some of them in the shower where the heat of the shower can help my shoulder muscles.

So not only do I have to do physio every day I also have to shower every day too?! So unreasonable.
