I tried copilot in VS Code sometime in 2025 and was thoroughly disappointed with its ability. It felt like a really bad auto-complete at best, making plenty of mistakes and generally being utterly irritating to actually use with its need to constantly pop in as I was typing with long form coding suggestions that were often wrong. I was already predisposed to being negative about AI due to the usual mix of reasons and wrote off all the AI coding tools as useless.

this is why much software created in the 1970s counterculture was joyful and humanistic, and why much software created in the 2020s capitalistic hellscape is soul-crushing malware (adware, spyware).
#retrocomputing can mean celebrating hardware limitations and creative coding, but it can also mean celebrating personal computing - computers that are tools for liberation - bicycles for the mind, not cattle trains to the slop farm.

This is absolutely amazing. It works perfectly well with private podcast feeds, it even create a Live Activity when you’re transcribing audio and switch away from the app. This is a winner.
