What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

I used to run a race a week but now I'm down to one a year. It's a tough course with a lot of trip hazards and I expect to take a tumble or two. So here I am in urgent care with blood over my arms and legs - mine - but it's actually my wife whose injury has brought us here, not mine.

This isn't your normal "looking for work" post.

I've decided to shut my business and do more volunteer / community work.

If you know of an organisation which could use a board member with strong digital skills, extensive experience in open source and open standards, or cybersecurity please let me know.

Nothing full time. Personal recommendations preferred. Feel free to share.

🚨 Bill C-22 would force every Canadian internet provider, messaging app, and cloud service to build surveillance backdoors & store a year of your private data. Foreign state hackers exploited similar legislation in the US — compromising up to a million people. Tell your MP: openmedia.org/StopC22-mast @OpenMediaOrgOpenMedia

Did anybody else see The History of Sound? I feel like it came and went and the reaction was sort of meh because, although it is about love between two men, it's not primarily about sex or being gay. It is about a Kentuckian and a New Englander who meet in 1917 at a music conservatory because of their mutual love of folk songs. One goes to war and becomes a music professor, and the other becomes a singer and conductor. They spend one winter camping out and recording Maine folk songs together.
