🇬🇧 How running Codex on a login node caused deadlock and made a supercomputer inaccessible. A cautionary tale about resource usage.

Wow 🤯

"No batteries, no circuits, no external power source required. … The outer skin is made from a moisture-responsive biodegradable composite, & seeds are housed w/in it. When the device rolls [to] where humidity conditions are right, the skin begins to break down & disperse those seeds directly into the soil. It boosts soil oxygen, contributes to carbon sequestration, & by the end of its journey, the device has fully merged with the ground it was trying to restore."

RE: phpc.social/@afilina/116274024

It's good to see that more and more people are realising that the Web can be for-good, without all the enshittification.

That's why I'm happy to see endeavours like phpc.tv springing up, and helping out where I can.

Taking back the control of how the Web is for people, by people, without big tech making it all shit.

Reminder: AI "generated" code is 100% plagiarized. You must not accept code of unknown provenance into your code base. Doing so opens you up to potential copyright infringement lawsuits. Nobody needs a repeat of the SCO vs IBM lawsuit over ownership of Unix.

Accepting AI-assisted code is just legally untenable. That's black and white, there's nothing to debate. Projects that accept it are idiots and should be shunned.
