Geek stuff, trying to install Ubuntu on an old computer

EDIT: Trying several solutions now, thanks for your replies and boosts! :)

Geek friends, I need your help!

I'd love to install #Ubuntu on my 11-year-old computer, but it can't boot (no USB boot available in BIOS) from USB (USB 2.0 FAT32 8 Gb drive) at all, and the latest Ubuntu .iso image is too big to be burnt on a bootable DVD. What can I do?

Can anyone help a #Linux beginner?
