Measuring the popularity of #programming languages has always been tough. While there are several well-known rankings out there (e.g. the TIOBE index), these days I have the most faith in this one https://madnight.github.io/githut/#/pushes/2024/1

Love or hate #GitHub, it's so widely used that the popularity of something there is probably a pretty good reflection of the broader picture.
