Moi j'suis Nauss, l'administrateur et seul propriétaire de ShoniTown, un service que les gens du Shaughnessy Village, quartier du centre-ville ouest de Montréal, peuvent utiliser afin accèder au truc très bien connu au nom du "fédivers", parfois "la fédiverse" (vois @FediverseSymbolFediverse Symbol ⁂ pour plus des renseignements)

utilise le logiciel dont @dariusDarius Kazemi est le responsable. Hometown est un fork d'un logiciel plus bien connu, @Mastodon

Les comptes du "fédivers" y compris ceux de ShoniTown fournissent la capacité de faire tout qui suit:
· écrire des posts publics
· suivre des actualités
· parcourir des photos, vidéos, annonces, &c.
· faire la promotion de ses propres truc ou les trucs d'autres personnes
· offrir des biens, des services et même des choses qui sont réellement gratuits
· s'amuser

J'ai opéré ShoniTown (ou 'shoni point town' selon les préférences) depuis août 2023. Dès maintenant, les coûts étaient maigres. Moi, j'en ai plusieurs intérêts qui comprennent rouler sur mon vélo, des langues, l'histoire, le politique local et de plus en plus depuis 2021, l'urbanisme. En tant qu'administrateur de ce service, je me kiffe aussi du logiciel libre (le fameux "Linux"), la vie privée en ligne, et des plans pour la continuité face aux caprices des billionaires

D'habitude, je n'accepte pas des requêtes de suivi issus de comptes qui ne sont pas associés à Montréal, sauf si le compte s'appartient à quelqu'un que je connais IRL ou un autre admin d'instance. J'essaie d'éviter, aussi, le suivi par des robots - mais donne-moi un follow si t'es , lol

This is exactly right.

Like diseases, toxic cultural norms don't respect any boundaries. Growing up in the US means having been socialized in a cultural broth celebrating those who ignore their personal needs in favor of whatever group(s) they're a part of. It's embedded in our aphorisms:

* No pain, no gain
* Go above and beyond
* Give 110%

Those are just the ones that came to mind quickly. I'm sure there are others.

Escaping a mindset that's deliberately inculcated in us as children is difficult, for everyone. It doesn't matter where one ends up on the political spectrum. Leftists are just as prone to that kind of toxic behavior as any fascist.

I think the first step is just recognizing and naming it for what it is: toxic bullshit priming people to allow themselves to be used as disposable resources.

If you don't have the spoons to take it on, avoid any organizations that don't explicitly recognize the danger. If you do have the spoons to deal with it, maybe look for ones that seem otherwise OK, and bring it up for discussion.
