got db versioning tables working such that we can trivially and performantly recall specific versions of objects extended over many tables, so yes, sciop will be wikilike and allow us to adopt a soft security model that allows for staggered trust that doesn't put unvetted data into an autodownloading torrent feed, limits damage from vandalism, resists troll brigades by putting those edits into an invisible staging area that only they and moderators can see, but still allows for mass collaboration. since we can match metadata to torrents by infohashes, this also allows for handling forking metadata between instances.
it was harder than just doing destructive editing, but it'll be worth it. the biggest mistake that linked data systems make is designing them such that only one authoritative version of truth is possible, and we're not going to make it.

Well, it may not be much to some, but I do personally find some comfort in knowing that people endlessly chasing more power and more wealth will never be truly happy. At best they temporarily relieve some of their anger and anxieties.
Whereas us regular folks find joy in small everyday things. In helping each other out, which in turn brings more positivity into the world.

Nice to see at least some attempts to reverse the trend.
Annoying little things - noticed one side of the cooker hood bulbs was out. Found a handy spare. Unscrewed a panel before realising it didn't need unscrewing but now can't get it back on. No problem put it to one side. Unscrew the bulb that feels a bit weird - glass bulb pops out away from the bulb screw casing which is now stuck in the hood. Argh! I assume I have to now locate and turn off mains power supply then find some pliers and get up there to work it out? Anyone have any experience of this one very specific situation that's never happened to me before in 4 and a half decades?

My need for a new job has gone from “I'm unhappy and need a change" to “I don't hardly have any savings and if I don't get a new job ASAP I will be bankrupt in a month or so”, because I was laid off today.
So:
Hi! I'm Jamie. I write code in Swift, with the exact target/platform not mattering to me so much. I own a powerful Mac so I can contribute to indie/smaller projects without any particular investment. I also have experience managing teams, and I can quickly pick up new skills.
The role would have to be remote or located in the Baltimore, MD area as I have a mortgage that I can't just get out of.
Two things about these incidents of Teslas catching fire:
1. It’s a tough one to investigate, because of course the motive might be political, but also Teslas just •do that• spontaneously on their own. (I hope nobody who owns one ever ever parks it in an attached garage!)
2. At some point, I have to imagine that the fires (both spontaneous and sabotage) are going to do wild things to the insurance rates for these vehicles. Owners selling at a loss might still end up saving money.
