Last spring, I organized what I thought would be the programming event of the year: a search algorithm competition.

I spent weeks crafting a series of challenging problems.

I secured funding for prizes, designed a dedicated website with registration forms, and distributed flyers across campus bulletin boards and coffee shops. I even convinced three industry veterans to judge the submissions.

I've been thinking of contributing to the #fediverse for a while now, but I haven't really found a project or an idea that would fit my tech stack requirements yet.

Like Pixelfed and Loops have a PHP backend, but I'd rather contribute something with Golang or Typescript/Javascript.

Infra: I pulled down a glass from the artifact registry, and it held water just fine

I wrote a cross-platform open source texture viewer. It's still WIP, but already supports 2D textures and cubemaps in DDS, KTX and KTX2 formats and normal image files that are supported by stb_image (JPG, PNG, BMP, TGA, ...).
It allows viewing mipmap levels, also next to each other (for 2D textures).
All in a single small (<3MB) executable.

Decided to defer looking into moving to Kamal/Coolify. Hosting's going to be more expensive, but I reckon it'll take me at least a few days to explore, test + maintain. Still worth it (for now) #buildinpublic
