Not sure why I'm reminiscing about these year old lab projects. I think I'm longing for time to finish and get them out of my head! 🧠 🔨

Here's another mastodon fever dream that is sitting in my projects pile. A mastodon bookmark browser. It extracts the authors and hashtags, and allows you to browse through them based on those filters (plus timeframes).

The problem I have right now is...for a bookmark junkie like me, once you go to "all bookmarks" the list of authors and hashtags gets unwieldy..how do I visualize the options at that point? I guess a series of dropdowns, which isn't visually appealing.

Was there ever an update on Automattic moving Tumblr to a WordPress backend? I know it was something that was planned, and was kind of a precondition for implementing ActivityPub. I haven’t heard much else about it.

I want #mastodon to treat hashtags like subreddits and all replies should only be able to be given an up or down arrow. then let apps show us our normal LIFO social graph or browse hashtags ordered like reddit does subreddits. this could also give us something like community notes (where the best replies show up right under the post) and also deal with reply guys (by banishing junk). lemmy kinda breaks decentralization etc.

친구 오늘 야외 전통혼례 하는데 날씨 참 다이나믹하네

trying to replace my chair cylinder has been an ordeal. turns out most everything is standardized *except* the length of the cylinder. so the removal kit and replacement cylinder i ordered made my chair too tall, and what i should have ordered is a "short" cylinder instead of a "universal fit" one. of course i find this out after already installing it... so i need to struggle again. might order a rubber mallet and maybe a pipe wrench on top of a new "short" cylinder. not looking forward to it!

(1/2) 부킹닷컴을 통해서만 예약을 해야 하는 숙소 제외하고는 웬만하면 호텔과 직접 예약하는 게 제일 좋습니다. 제가 경험해 본 결과 부킹닷컴 가격이랑 직접 예약하는 가격이랑 가격 차이가 그렇게 큰 편도 아니었어요. 그렇다면 차라리 호텔과 직접 예약해야지 문제가 생겼을 때도 호텔이 직접 나서서 해결을 해 줄 수 있지요. 흔하지는 않지만, 호텔이 오버부킹 되었을 경우에 서드파티 통해서 예약한 손님들이 가장 불리한 위치에 있게 됩니다. 무슨 의미냐면, 오버부킹 되었을 때 "walked" 당할 가능성이 높은 건 서드파티 부킹이거든요.

I used to treat email as a communication tool for the various communities I belonged to. But many of those communications take place elsewhere.

Email still plays plenty of roles, but heavy social and interaction ones is not the bulk of it. It seems dominated by todo-like tasks.

It doesn’t seem like we have upgraded our clients to this new reality.
