Today is #ArmenianGenocideRemembranceDay. It commemorates the arrest and expulsion of Armenian intellectuals and leaders from Istanbul in 1915, the first steps in the process that killed over 1.5 million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire.
Like so many others, this genocide has been denied, downplayed and ignored by parties who do not want to face its consequences. Acknowledging and bearing witness to atrocities is the least we owe to the people who were lost.

Starting to see an uptick in overtly racist, fascist trolls (using the n-word, calling for genocide, etc) in my mentions. Mostly from instances I’ve never heard of, but some from mainstream places.
Blocking and reporting as usual, of course, but the increased volume seems to be a recent phenomenon.

the horror of the day is the FHS. i know why it's Like That, but i've been dealing with issues over the past couple of days regarding which parts of the filesystem i can externalize and which ones i can't, as i want to be able to provision new roots with pacstrap whenever i want. further down the rabbit hole i discovered that sharing a /home partition isn't actually as safe as i've thought it was for years... ~/.config and ~/.local contain files that can't always be cleanly ported between roots.
