Progress on the FEP for Event objects

The FEP-8a8e (Fediverse Enhancement Proposal) had at lot of progress in the last months. In the meantime, the document has become somewhat more extensive than originally planned, but contains not only instructions for new features that have to be tediously implemented, but also a lot of advice and points that should provide orientation for developers of Fediverse applications that support events.

It now covers:

  • Events with Open End
  • Timezone
  • Physical and Virtual Locations
  • Event status
  • RSVP (Attendee Management)
  • Event Banner and Poster Images
  • Event Categories

Spent about an hour and a half clearing brush. It's starting to grow fast now so I have maybe another week to make progress before it's mostly treading water, I'm guessing.

Last year when working on this area we found a bunch of bricks, two children's toys, and an old rusty lockbox. I've tried all the combinations up to 6100 on the lockbox so far(*) but it hasn't opened yet. No treasures this year unfortunately.

A Can of Shardines: SQLite Multitenancy With Rails

There is a pattern I am very fond of - “one database per tenant” in web applications with multiple, isolated users. Recently, I needed to fix an application I had for a long time where this database-per-tenant multitenancy utterly broke down, because I was doing connection management wrong. Which begat the question: how do you even approach doing it right? And it turns out I was not alone in this. The most popular gem for multitenancy - Apartment - which I have even used in my failed startup back in the day - has the issue too. The culprit of does not handle multithreading very well is actually deeper. Way deeper. Doing runtime-defined multiple databases with Rails has only recently become less haphazard, and there are no tools either via gems or built-in that facilitate these flows. It has also accrued a ton of complexity, and also changes with every major Rails revision. TL;DR If you need to do database-per-tenant multitenancy with Rails or ActiveRecord right now - grab the middleware from this gist and move on. If you are curious about the genesis of this solution, strap in - we are going on a tour of a sizeable problem, and of an API of stature - the ActiveRecord connection management. CMYK 프로파일 등 복잡한 ICC 프로파일을 지원하기 위해 기존에 사용하던 Little CMS 2 (lcms2) 에 더해, Rust로 작성된 색 관리 시스템인 moxcms 지원을 추가한 것이 주요 변경사항입니다. CLI 툴의 기본 CMS는 아직 lcms2이지만 --cms moxcms 옵션으로 moxcms를 사용할 수 있습니다.

원래 몇백원 몇천원 단위 잔돈 관리는 기사가 처리하는 게 업계 관행이었는데 민주노총 노조가 생기면서 버스회사가 노조 탄압을 위해 그 관행이 횡령이라면서 해고했고, 그게 횡령으로 인정되는지 아닌지 재판 결과도 일관성 없이 재판관 따라 다르게 나왔다고.

未だにMastodonとjp鯖の区別ができず、「Mastodonで画像表示ができない」なんてオワコン！と叫んでいる人達を見ると、インターネット初期にブラウザのことをYahoo!と呼んでいた人や、デスクトップからブラウザのショートカットを消してしまって「インターネットを消しちゃった！」と言っていた人達のことを思い出す。
