writing man pages is so useful to check if your interface actually makes sense from a user perspective.
writing specifications for protocols is similarly essential for understanding and revising overlooked details, misplaced assumptions and plain embarrassing decisions made during development.
i'm currently writing man/specs for klutshnik but had the same epiphany also during other projects.
if you don't write docs, you rob yourself of a very powerful and simple review technique.

#Bandwagon is really starting to add polish. I think the inbox / timeline still needs some design love, but I’m really impressed at how well the music and discovery side of the app is working.
I feel like this is a really solid starting point for the FediMusic community, but I would love to see federation working with other efforts like Mirlo.space and Funkwhale in the near future.

Finally, don't be a lazy ass with your release notes.
You'll eventually shoot yourself in the foot with "Bug fixes and improvements" because you won't have a record of when an important thing happened.
Good notes are for your own benefit as much as your customer's.
You know how we all get frustrated by black holes where we submit bugs and never hear another word? Looking at you Radar/FB.
It happens to our customers, too.
They spend their valuable time reporting issues in our apps. And we fix those things. And that's often the end of it.
We've started doing something about that: our release notes now thank whoever reported the bug. It takes very little time to add "Thx" and it builds a great relationship with your biggest fans.
