Eh...fondamentalmente per due motivi.
Motivo uno: non fa cose in più. Che poi è come dovrebbe essere un codice che funziona, no? Pulito.
Motivo due: con una cifra più o meno pari a quella che spendo per l'host+il dominio potevo fare masto host e avere un'istanza pronta. Ma. Ma Mastodon fa cose in più, un sacco in realtà. E soprattutto perchè è vero che quella di masto host è una decentralizzazione finta, perchè anche se le istanze sono tante c'è un'entità che tiene le chiavi di tutte.
E se un giorno masto host decide di vendere le chiavi a un multimiliardario a caso?
Dici: non succede. Ma il punto è che potrebbe succedere e il fatto che potrebbe succedere conferma che è una decentralizzazione finta.

Ora: io ho delle idee riguardo a internet.
Il fatto è che poteva andare in due modi.
Poteva essere che un po' alla volta si sviluppavano gli strumenti per dare a chiunque fosse interessato, a fronte di un contributo volontario -o anche a gratis o magari per baratto - i mezzi per comunicare ed esprimere le proprie idee in modo libero e decentralizzato.
Oppure poteva essere che il capitalismo fiutava l'affare.

E' andata nel secondo modo, ma questo non mi impedisce di continuare a pensare che sia sbagliato. Quindi mi oppongo. Come posso. Suggerendo anche ad altre persone di opporsi e supportando altri che si oppongono.
