OK, Danke euch allen. 😁🤗

I get so tired of promoting time-limited stuff. Every time the timer lapses, though, someone says "Oh no, I missed this! Can I still get in on it?"

No. No, you can't. That's what time-limited means.

Anyway, marketing post incoming. Ugh.

I totally missed that cryptocurrency mining chips were now the leading adopters of new semiconductor technology.

For instance the Samsung GAA FET process was first adopted by MicroBT, a Chinese mining chip company because “such chips are easy to build and make for great pipe cleaners for the latest process technologies, so it is not surprising that Samsung Foundry is making them rather than large ASICs on its SF3E.”

This is certainly one of those "Well, it depends...." sort of things, but...

Hypothetically, if one were to consider *BSD for hosting a bunch of static web sites, but using Caddy, would one prefer FreeBSD or OpenBSD?

Idea is simple, stable, secure, without too much fuss. I've tried OpenBSD with httpd and relayd but didn't love httpd. Prefer Caddy if possible.

None of the games linked above are easy to beat. Actually, I made this game a few years ago, but even I couldn't beat a single game...In the end, I decided it was a poorly made game, but I just uploaded it to the app market and distributed it anyway. lol

I just saw a meta-study that said the negative association between screen time and mental health issues in adolescent children and young adults was "small or very small".

I wonder what the negative association between leaving the house and sustaining a physical injury is.

Probably somewhat higher? Not that I know what "small or very small" actually means quantitatively.

Using screens is so ubiquitous now, that we have to talk specifics about what is being done via that screen.

fun fact: the CPU usage of htop depends a lot on what columns you enable. some of them (like M_PSS and M_SWAP) rely on /proc/$pid/smaps_rollup, which means every time htop refreshes the data it displays, it instructs the kernel to walk through all the page tables of all the processes. which, uh, takes a while.
