honored to be publishing a work with sync.ed 🤍 thank you Andreas Bülhoff
syncedition.net/a-group/

A Group is a conceptual poem consisting entirely of Facebook group names. Groups on Facebook set their own rules of communication inside a highly regimented social media platform. They seek to establish subplatforms of control and belonging, thus smuggling a longing for human autonomy back into a platform-capitalist environment. The group names were researched and collected between 2021 and 2025.

This piece in particular:

> It gets most things right, but it consistently makes mistakes in the places that you are least likely to notice. In places where a person wouldn’t make a mistake. Your brain keeps trying to develop a theory of mind to predict its behavior but there’s no mind there, so it always behaves infuriatingly randomly.

Let me repeat:

> Your brain keeps trying to develop a theory of mind to predict its behavior but there’s no mind there

Chew on that

@dariusDarius Kazemi This is *exactly* the experience I had five years ago as a professional translator when the entire industry decided it was time to start running everything through machine translation and then paying translators half as much to "MT post-edit".

It gets most things right, but makes *plausible* mistakes it's hard to notice. So you can't use the translation without a human translator in the loop, but you "don't have to" pay the human as much.

Everybody wins! Except me.

Blasta
"A federated PubSub bookmarking system for XMPP.
Blasta is a collaborative bookmarks manager for organizing online content. It allows you to add links to your personal collection of links, to categorize them with keywords, and to share and synchronize your collection among your own software, devices, machines, and also with others. The ability of Blasta to display to you the links that other people have collected and shared, as well as showing you who else has bookmarked a specific link is what makes Blasta a collaborative system. You can also view the links collected by others, and subscribe to the links of people whose lists you deem to be interesting. Blasta does not limit you to save links of certain types; you can save links of types adc, dweb, ed2k, feed, ftp, gemini, geo, gopher, http, ipfs, irc, magnet, mailto, monero, mms, news, sip, udp, xmpp and any scheme and type that you desire."

AI/LLM slop

Every time I have to visit Zoom's website to check for an update for work purposes, I throw up a little in my mouth at their claims to be an 'AI-first' tool. AI is one of the last things I want in video conferencing (not the only last thing, I can come up with quite a list, but).

PS: I'm not going to try to push the boulder of open source alternatives up the hill of work, pull the other one. And using Teams would be (much) worse.
