The spousal unit came home today and said, "I got you a toy!" and I was like, oh no, what kind of junk is he bringing home from the thrift store today (the last one being a keychain with a miniature version of my favourite instant noodle, which is thoughtful of him but, do I really need it?).

To my surprise, it's not really as junky as expected. It's a Widelux F7 panoramic camera with carrying case and a set of filters. It takes 35mm film.

Apparently, according to eBay sold listings, some people would pay a couple of thousand dollars for one of these. Huh. (The spousal unit got it for a steal, and yes, it works.)

Anyway, I've been a camera collector for years and I have hundreds of film cameras in my collection. This one is definitely one of the nicer (and very few) additions to the collection in recent years.

Fascinating conversation with a chaplain today about rituals that made me think how we want every "ritual" in software to generalize and become a rule for everybody but maybe it's not only ok but ideal to have localized rituals that emerge in dialogue with a place

Speaking of which, I'm working on a «Guix Channel Browser» that I forked from the Guix Packages Website to fix response times by using an independent database.

Currently it only covers the functionality of the forked website. But, as the name implies, the idea is to allow searching for whatever channels may provide.

Been working for Obsidian Systems for around two months now. The teams and management are awesome. Quite a few projects going on, with somewhat different skills. I started on a project using Daml, but now I'm doing operations with AWS, #NixOS and Kubernetes. Most employees work my 11pm to 7am (Australia Eastern) so it's hard to have significant overlap, but I'm able to make it work.
