Did you know that there is hidden morse code all throughout Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells' album?

Somehow, probably during the two-track mix-down stage of the album, the CW from a powerful, very low frequency transmitter about 37 miles north of the studio in which this album was recorded found it's way to tape. It's centered at 16 kHz, and so low in the mix that you can't actually hear it... at least, not without some help.

This is a very short, not particularly comprehensive demo using two different methods -- a pair of stock Reaper plugins and an SDR package to mostly isolate this morse transmission, which is heard throughout the entire album.

Growing up in the 90s, the CND / world peace / remembrance, "never again" / anti-war messaging all seemed sort of.. hackneyed? Obvious? Like duh, war is bad? Of course we want world peace?

Now I'm like, ohhhh.

Now I'm living in these somewhat tense times, where people definitely do need to protest, to ram that point home, or sing and make art, to get the message out or try to quell the existential angst.

Some of these old songs that seemed quaint, have lyrics that now give me chills.

Some networj device between San Francisco and London is sometimes corrupting packets (in a way that the packet checksum survives), causing my collectd metrics packets to and causing fun named files to be made on my metrics server...

I also wonder sometimes if the destination is sometimes corrupted and my metrics packet zoops off somewhere else on the internet
