A key part of the New York City mayoral races was Ranked Choice Voting.

I'm not seeing many news articles mention this yet (correct me if I'm wrong though!).

Ranked choice let's us vote first for who we actually want.... and then put in backup votes for "good enough" candidates and allows us to compromise and find common ground.

It destroys the concepts of "lesser of two evils" and "throwing away your vote".

I hope we see Ranked Choice voting everywhere.

Okay it eventually unfroze but by the time it did enough time had passed to accumulate so many debug messages the ones I wanted had scrolled out. It turns out VSCode's debug console (1) has a limited backscroll (2) by default it's a short limit (3) changing the limit is somehow less user-friendly than in the old black CMD.COM "DOS window". I KNEW I was making a mistake not simply running this shit on the command line

I just had to call my power company because reasons, and in the little automated hold thing, there was an announcement that said:

"We look forward to helping you though mutually respectful conversation (Emphasis added by me because the recording emphasized those words). Be aware that we will not tolerate any abusive language to our staff, and will disconnect the call in that event."

Holy shit why don't more call centers protect their people like this? I have too many friends working in call centers that deserve this sort of protection.

室友被语言学校一个猥琐男骚扰，情急之下脱口而出自己是拉，女朋友也在学校上课，想让对方自觉退出，而对方回应：“可以约着三人一起吃饭呀~”
于是，我猜到了，室友来找我问我明天能不能陪她一起出门，装作她是我女朋友。
有点无语，我直接跟她说，你如果觉得被骚扰，那就直接严令拒绝。你无需通过自证什么或者假装什么来打消对方的骚扰念头，因为没必要。最核心的原因可以很简单——因为你不喜欢，因为你感到被骚扰。只要你有这样的感觉，那就直接制止对方。如果对方不听，那就直接反馈学校，说你感受到了来自某某其他学生的骚扰，你感到人身安全受到威胁。
我不是你的挡箭牌，其他人也不是。如果你有危险，我当然会去保护你，是作为一个朋友、一个正常道德水平的社会公民，而不是、也不应该作为一个你不敢直接回应和拒绝对方的幌子。

这一点，也望所有直女朋友周知，女同不是一个借口，一个手段，对于一些不轨意图，你们的一个简洁的“不！”，其实就够了。
