I insert the USB stick LTE modem into my Linux laptop. I thought it was going to take a lot longer to get the internet on this device. 😭 I might need to tweak settings or download the drivers and compile it.

Linux sends a notification: 'New modem found.' What? No way.

So, I go to the network settings panel, and there's an option to connect to the Internet called “Mobile Internet”. I click on it.
I'm online, and I'm speechless 😶 The year of the Linux desktop is already here, at least for me!

After 5 years of development, Alpine Linux just merged apk v3 into edge! 🎉

There are some fantastic things in there, such as downloading packages before installing them (which we enabled by default), so that a flaky internet connection can't ever destroy your system again.

Also the version string apk reports changed slightly, leading to a bogus "downgrade attack" message in pmbootstrap:

> ERROR: Downloaded apk-tools-static-3.0.0_rc5_git20250613-r0.apk, but the apk binary inside that package reports to be version: 3.0.0_rc5_git20250613-r0! Looks like a downgrade attack from a malicious server! Switch the server (-m) and try again.

Today I've released version 1.5.3 of Dowstodon, my Mastodon client for Windows. It's got some neat improvements for the system notifications and a better look when transparency is disabled, but the biggest addition is the ability to search users by name on user's lists e.g. the following list.

ok, så jeg har allerede testet #geforcenow ultimate en periode for en liten stund siden, og opplevelsen var opp og ned, men generelt god — en kan koble på #steam og spille der hvor en kan installere en geforcenow app — en kan feks også koble på en #xboxgamepassultimate og spille de spillene som tilbys der — akkurat de spillene kan en også spille med #XboxCloudGaming der en kan installere den appen, men #xbox appen kan ikke spille steambiblioteket, bare synkronisere hvis du også kjøper spillene gjennom #microsoft — og akkurat det er jo helt absurd, men men … så geforcenow er en bedre app hvis en skal spille egne spill — men nå tar jeg en kjøretur med #shadowtech som tilbyr noe av det samme som nvidia gjør med geforcenow — appen til shadow er i beta og de har ikke app til samsungtv, men de holder til i Europa (jeg registrerte meg i Danmark siden de av en eller annen grunn ikke har signup skjema for Norge)

Med shadow er det ikke bare spill — de tilbyr også arbeidsstasjoner i skyen

og siden jeg ikke har en windowsmaskin lenger, så er det naturlig å se om det kan være en løsning

jeg har #parallelsdesktop , men det blir en begrenset opplevelse i sammenligning
