What is Hackers' Pub?

I got a call around noon today from someone I knew in highschool. An old mutual friend (let's call him Bob) wasn't responding and they didn't know if he was okay. They didn't know who else to call, so they called me.

I went to Bob's for a wellness check, and found them anything but well. The apartment was in disarray, he was loud, agitated, and not making sense—obviously seeing & hearing things that weren't there.

At one point, two people knocked on the door and called out to him, saying they were there for a wellness call. Bob wouldn't let me open the door and was walking around aggressively with a large knife. I eventually talked him into putting it away, but I think he stashed it on his person instead. After that, he got spooked and ran out of the apartment. I followed after, eventually found him again, convinced him to get in my car, and drove him to his brother (who I'll call Doug)'s place (as requested).

Well, it's been ages since I've seen Doug, but apparently nowadays he lives in an RV by the airport, is a Trump guy, armed, and intoxicated.

This isn't how I thought my day was going to go when I got up this morning.

So my blonde glittery ass is in a neighborhood I wouldn't walk around alone in, hanging out with homeless folks and two armed guys—one who's severely agitated and erratic, one who's drunk/high and voted against my existence—as I try to balance getting an ambulance and avoiding anyone calling the cops.

Bob kept yelling and walking off, and we'd try to talk him back to a saf*er* spot and calm him down while I wait for the ambulance. At this point it's like 4pm, I've been doing this for hours. Then, after following him several blocks by myself, Bob assaults me. Apparently my earrings were bugged and his enemies were listening through them, so he tried to rip them out. I fought him off, cried, convinced him to walk me back to my car (it's been like an hour since the ambulance was called). Police roll up on us because a neighbor lady called them (despite me telling her we had already called an ambulance—she told me to fuck off).

On the bright side, it was the first time I've had a positive interaction with cops. One of the officers distracted Bob while Doug and I talked to the other one (who was kind enough to overlook the multiple laws being broken in front of him by Doug). Officer friendly called for an ambulance two more times, and one *finally* showed up, but Bob had run off in the meantime. Friendly's partner had followed Bob, and Friendly and the ambulance caught up with him after leaving Doug and I. Friendly called me a little later to say Bob refused to ride in the ambulance or police car to the hospital, and that he was last seen heading South some blocks away.

At this point I was deep into negative spoons and figured if I went after Bob that he'd assault me again. So I walked to the nearest bar with Doug, got a stiff drink and some food (I hadn't eaten since morning and it was after 5pm now). After that I drove home, cried a lot, ate ice cream, and am now waiting for the crisis & (involuntary) commitment services to call me back so I can file a report—which I fucking hate that I have to do, but Bob is in a state where he's going to end up hurting someone or himself if he doesn't get some form of help asap.

The part that kills me is that I used to look up to him when I was a teen (we're around the same age and went to the same school for a couple years). He was wicked-smart and always doing activism stuff. And now he's so divorced from reality that he was yelling at patterns in the dirt and attacking old friends he once said he loved.

I also got misgendered like a hundred times today by Doug 😮‍💨 (lots of "she", "he", "sh–he", and "brosis"—despite my hat literally saying they/them on it). I interjected "they" a few times and then just gave up because I didn't have any fucks left at that point.
