Using Codeberg a little more is making me appreciate how *performant* it is. Reminds me of GitHub a decade ago.

Normally I feel like "it reminds me of a decade old site" that wouldn't always be a compliment, but GitHub's UI performance has degraded so much it's a breath of air using something that feels this snappy.

I think, one of the most fascinating genres of photography is street photography. And even though it’s fascinating and I really would like to try it, I feel some sort of fear.

When doing street photography, you have to be fast and you have to be invisible because people start acting different when they notice you taking a photo of them. So asking strangers on the street: „Hey, would you mind me taking a picture of you“ is not really an option. But when taking pictures of strangers on the street, this can also make a creepy impression, especially when photographing women or - even worse - kids. And this is where street photography fear comes into play. Probably women taking photos have an advantage here as they are generally unsuspicious, while a man taking pictures on the street could be seen as a creep.

I have seen some videos from street photographers on YouTube who claimed that they never got confronted with people they photographed, while there were others who were stating that they had been labelled as a pervert. This is a situation I don’t want to find myself in.

How about your experience with street photography? How are you dealing with it?
Would really like to hear your thoughts on this.

Two years ago, I started browsing with turned off by default, only enabling it (and saving this decision) when needed. With the browsers I am using, it's only 2 clicks.

A lot of insights I got from this experiment:

- most websites are still usable, minus all the annoyances
- websites that refuse to display content at all w/o JS turn out to be not worth visiting. So you have kind of a quality filter.
- browsing is many times faster
- you use the internet much more focused on the content you were actually looking for. No more distractive images, links, embedded content
- enabling JS on sites that automatically redirect you if your misses JS support can be tricky

Debian 13: 13.1 released
Jean-Pierre Giraud <jipege@debian.org>

The Debian project is pleased to announce the first update of its stable
distribution Debian 13 (codename "trixie"). This point release mainly
adds corrections for security issues, along with a few adjustments for
serious problems. Security advisories have already been published
separately and are referenced where available.

Please note that the point release does not constitute a new version of
Debian 13 but only updates some of the packages included. There is no
need to throw away old "trixie" media. After installation, packages can
be upgraded to the current versions using an up-to-date Debian mirror.

Those who frequently install updates from security.debian.org won't have
to update many packages, and most such updates are included in the point
release.

New installation images will be available soon at the regular locations.

Upgrading an existing installation to this revision can be achieved by
pointing the package management system at one of Debian's many HTTP
mirrors. A comprehensive list of mirrors is available at:

debian.org/mirror/list

I'm always so relieved when I press the back button on a website and it actually shows me the content I was just looking at, as opposed to slowly and jankily reloading the page, then auto-scrolling to the wrong spot.

Still waiting for webdevs to notice that the latter is a dead giveaway that your site is an SPA.

For those who don't know, in Japan there are strictly speaking no real "PCP/GP/family doctors"s. You go directly to a specialist clinic appropriate to your issue.

内科 is the closest equivalent, which is basically the doctor you go to when you have pain, a fever, cough, nausea, that sort of thing.
