I’ve been playing a bit with lately and I jotted down some thoughts on how I see it in comparison to batsov.com/articles/2025/09/12

It's amusing that the languages have changed a lot since I have first encountered them, yet some small aspects of Python still annoy me a bit. No programming language is perfect, especially for every use case and every person.

Why I Chose Ruby over Python

This year I spent a bit of time playing with Python, after having mostly ignored it since 2005 when was learning it originally. I did like Python back then, but a few years afterwards I discovered Ruby and quickly focused my entire attention on it.

찰리 커크 피살(또는 암살)로 미국 사회(특히 정치)의 폭력이 임계점을 넘은 것 같긴 한데, 그 임계점 넘기기에 가장 앞장 섰던 것이 커크 아닌가 싶다. 커크는 그 폭력이 "woke"에게 향하길 원했겠지만 정작 자신이 그 대상이 될 수도 있잔 생각은 안 했을 것 같다. 미국의 진보진영은 그런 폭력(특히 총기)에 반대해왔고.

If I wanted to go mad thinking abstractly about trivial things, I’d study category theory.

But even Java itself, the language so terrible at fostering good architecture, it has become a joke, has had all of those feature for at least 10 years. So can we abolish “command” and “strategy” now, pretty please?

Here, read the intro of the Wikipedia page for Command pattern with me: In object-oriented programming, the command pattern is a behavioral design pattern in which an object is used to encapsulate all information needed to perform an action or trigger an event at a later time. You know what I call this? A function. This information includes the method name, the object that owns the method and values for the method parameters. Here’s your command: const command = () => object.method(arg1, arg2); // or in PHP, or in Rust, or in C++... Every time I hear about a design pattern I don’t recognize, I get afraid that I’m missing some crucial idea, and then I Google it and find out that I’ve been unknowingly using it since I started programming. Yeah, bro, I used the data store pattern earlier today (a variable).

The binary gives you very different data to the description of it, e.g., fetching the binary doesn't indicate where to send replies to or how to interact with it; where as html <-> json-ld generally gives you similar enough representations.

Generally con-neg suggests the same data just in different formats; what you're giving here is different data in different formats.
