The genocide of Gaza is not over!

Israel is only allowing empty calories to enter-carbohydrates, sugars, and snacks while blocking the protein, vitamins, and minerals essential to prevent life-threatening malnutrition.

This is a calculated deception. By forcing people to gain weight on unhealthy food, Israel creates a false picture for the UN that the famine is over. In reality, severe malnutrition is spreading, weakening bodies and devastating a population.

We must expose this lie. Speak out against the brutal reality the people of Gaza are enduring. Their lives depend on it.

Two big takeaways, here.

First, they are not investigating the people responsible for the abuses, but the person who exposed the abuses.

Second, the term "blood libel" has now lost what little impact it still had as they are using it to smear a person who was A. truthful, B. an Israeli Major-General, and C. Jewish.

is committing in and the in .

Nasser Abu Srour, whose prison memoir has been translated into seven languages and is tipped to win a major international literary prize this month, was among more than 150 Palestinians serving life sentences who were freed as part of the US-brokered Gaza ceasefire and then immediately exiled to Egypt, where most remain in limbo.

His prison memoir, The Tale of a Wall: Reflections on Hope and Freedom, was mostly dictated in phone conversations with a relative over more than two years.

It has been translated from Arabic for publication in seven languages and is a finalist for the Arab literature prize awarded each year by the Institute of the Arab World in Paris.

YouTube has quietly removed over 700 videos from three major Palestinian human rights channels—Al-Haq, Al Mezan Center, and Palestinian Centre for Human Rights—citing U.S. government sanctions linked to Israel. These channels had documented alleged Israeli violations of international law in Gaza and the West Bank, including civilian killings. Critics argue this censorship, driven by U.S. sanctions and recent ICC charges against Israeli leaders for war crimes, suppresses crucial evidence and accountability. Advocates accuse YouTube of caving to political pressure, undermining free information about human rights violations. What does this mean for digital rights and free speech? I have an apology to issue. Yesterday, I called out a few large, open-registration instances (mastodon.social, vivaldi.net, and mas.to).

I was ticked off because (once again) a blatant Nazi troll account sent me (and several other folx) swastika photos and hate-speech.

I'm not apologizing for calling out large, open-signup instances. I stand by every word I said. But there's something I *didn't* say, and that's what I believe I owe an apology for.

When you have as many followers as I do, it's easy to start a dogpile—even unintentionally—and because of this, I always try to include a "be kind, don't attack folx" message when I rant about something. Yesterday I forgot to do that, and some mods and admins caught shit for it. It was my responsibility to anticipate my (sometimes overly) enthusiastic followers' reactions and head that off, and I failed to.

If you were one of the people yesterday who sent reports or messages that attacked *any* of the moderation team members of those servers, I would love it if you'd apologize to them. They're all volunteers, just like me, doing their best with what they've got. It's on all of us to make Fedi a safe space for each other.

To any of the wonderful volunteer moderators of Fedi who got nasty messages yesterday—or don't wake up every day feeling appreciated for their work—I'm sorry 🫂 you deserve better. I appreciate you 💞

Update: two of the three above instances' admin teams have personally reached out to me about my original post—and that's amazing! I hope we can work together to make Fedi a safer, more inclusive space for everyone (except Nazis).

So I'm finally trying out Ghostty now that I know there's an AppImage for it (I can't compile it on Slackware 15.0, only Slackware-current). Normally I use Terminology. Unicode rendering isn't too big of a deal for me personally.

So far Ghostty has been pretty nice. It's a
tiny bit faster than Terminology, and sometimes uses between just a bit more memory (about 10-30mb). Other times it uses about the same amount. Some of the nice eye candy is lacking, and I don't really like how I have to hold Ctrl to get links/paths to be clickable, but it's all minor. I did have to customize it quite a bit out-of-the-box just to have a nice experience, however. The defaults are very much antagonistic to what I prefer in a terminal

But one thing I'm more weary on is the font rendering. I just can't get it to match Terminology, even after tinkering with all the different settings, and it's a little more unpleasant to read. But I've gotten it close, at least.

I also have to use Sawfish's Window Rules settings to force its startup size, 'cause setting window-width and window-height doesn't work right for me.

We'll see if I end up going back to Terminology.
