Today we mourn and pay tribute to the trans lives that have been lost, the trans voices that were silenced. Today, we maintain a keen awareness of our rights and the hardships, violence and hate that trans people are subjected to.

Today we celebrate those that are still with us, and the lives they have lived and have yet to live. Today we remember that we will not surrender to the forces that seek to destroy us.

Today we will remember loss, as well as strength.

Worth noting with Mastodon - one of the reasons for no cookie consent popup is.. there are no tracking cookies. At all.

Similar with official mobile apps, there's no privacy agreements etc in the app stores as there's no third party tracking.

Why is this notable? Try doing the same check on Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky or basically anywhere or anything else online. It's basically unheard of in 2025, as everybody else is selling you.

What I'm listening to today: "Crysalis", Purity Filter

This was the song that introduced me to Purity Filter and probs my favorite track by them still. How do I describe this when it's more defined by an emotion than a genre? This is rave music for the people at the back not dancing (maybe a little sleepy because it's 3 AM), the warehouse ceiling echo already built into the song. There is light and sound and joy but they are somewhere else and happening to someone else

What I'm listening to today: "Riverrun Humbling Allegory", Lauren Bousfield

I posted that other song so now I have to post this one. Bousfield was part of the original Soundcloud flowering in 2009 as "Nero's Day at Disneyland" and in my head sorta bridges vaporwave and net breakcore, while having this wild, unique style apart from any genre. I want to play you entire albums of hers but if I have space for one song here's a manic wound of d&b breaks and distorted synths:

It makes me happy that there are people in the world who, when I idly wonder about something, have already done the research.

The iridescence you see sometimes see in meat, especially bacon, is likely caused by alternating muscle layers acting as a photonic crystal.

This is different to a more obvious interference related hypothesis that it's just striation on the surface acting a bit like a diffraction grating.

What is "the 2nd sentence" in this game?

Does the end of a sentence that begins on the previous page count?

If not, the next sentence in the second book I grabbed (the first one was a language textbook and had a gap text there) starts with direct speech. Should I quote the first sentence of that (which is pretty gruesome)?
