Optique 0.7.0: Smarter error messages and validation library integrations

洪 民憙 (Hong Minhee) @hongminhee@hackers.pub

Optique 0.7.0 introduces enhancements focused on improving the developer experience and expanding its ecosystem for type-safe CLI argument parsing in TypeScript. This release brings automatic "Did you mean?" suggestions to help users correct typos, along with seamless integrations for Zod and Valibot validation libraries, ensuring more robust and efficient CLI development. Duplicate option name detection is now included to catch configuration bugs early, and context-aware error messages provide users with precise feedback. The update also features customizable shell completion naming conventions and improved line break handling in error messages. With these new features, Optique aims to streamline CLI development in TypeScript, making it more intuitive and less error-prone. This release underscores Optique's commitment to providing developers with powerful tools for building high-quality CLI applications.

"Trump’s right wing billionaire friend Larry Ellison (and nepobaby son, David) recently acquired CBS and likely co-ownership of TikTok. Like Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, the goal isn’t really subtle: rich, thin-skinned right wingers want to own the entirety of U.S. new and old media, then convert it into a giant propaganda and lazy infotainment bullhorn that blows smoke up their asses": Larry Ellison Met With Trump To Discuss Which CNN Reporters They Plan To Fire techdirt.com/2025/11/25/larry-

Certified laserdisc dot party user moment: listening to a podcast that mentions one of Kubrick’s “least well-known and most obscure films” and it’s Barry Fucking Lyndon, yelling “WHAT” in my house loud enough to startle Penny, and then having to sit down and figure out if this is one of those XKCD Quartz of Course moments

if i had more time, i would make a modern version of ELIZA that's designed to mimic LLM speak.

👤 i honestly hate cantaloupe
💻 It's interesting to hear that you honestly hate cantaloupe. 😠 What are some reasons you honestly hate cantaloupe? 🤔
👤 they don't even taste good
💻 You're absolutely right! Cantaloupe doesn't even taste good. 👎 That's just one reason why many people honestly hate cantaloupe.
👤 why would anyone even like them?
💻 As a large language model, I can't say why people would like cantaloupe.

I saw folk talking about this on LinkedIn earlier and some saying it was made up, it is not lol

Obviously this is total shite but it's making me wonder if it might be valuable to probe the idea that LLM assisted coding is an abstraction that uses natural language (English) as a high level language

I believe this new model in Claude Code is a glimpse of the future we're hurtling towards, maybe as soon as the first half of next year: software engineering is done.

Soon, we won't bother to check generated code, for the same reasons we don't check compiler output.

Hey all Vapor devs, I finally need to write some backend code and I need to know how the Vapor ecosystem is doing before I pick my technology. I need to write the Account system for the project I'm working on. how is the SPM ecosystem for Vapor? I am not expecting Ruby on Rails-level of communities, but it would be good to know if we have good auth packages, logging packages, etc..

During the UK Covid vaccine rollout, I would print blank NHS vaccination cards so I could get as many vaccinations as possible. I received 4789 different vaccinations, from all three major drug companies. I had to travel to different clinics, then different cities, and even to the other nations of the UK just to get more, because I would be getting recognised by NHS staff.

Fun stuff: VisiOn kernel has a memory-leak. Clicking the menu ~200 times in any app results in running out of memory, and eventually the system crashes. The easiest way to replicate the bug is to press "Esc" down (it will send the Escape key event over and over); it won't even do anything, just redraw the menu.

:D Please, don't let me fix a 42-year-old bug in an OS :D

Edit: it is a memory leak caused by the "display beeps as screen flashes" function :D

a monochrome screenshot of a Word for VisiOn text processor:
"memory nearly full, click SELECT, then quit some windows!"

TV news breakfast type shows are always so funny to me. you'll have the presenters talking about the benefits of eating four bananas a day or interviewing an actor on an upcoming movie while the chyron at the bottom is going ⚠️ POLICE EMPHASISE IMPORTANCE OF LOCKING DOORS AS FAMILY OF SIX MURDERED ⚠️
