What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

still like the lighting system i came up with for midboss. it just draws all the tiles again (at a lower resolution) filled with the light color for that tile instead of the normal pixels, and then it blurs the shit out of it and that becomes the lighting

so simple but highly effective

midboss screenshot of a shrine. the shrine is illuminated by the player's line of sight, but it creeps through a door just below the player, then stops

„Is Pixelfed sawing off the branch that the Fediverse is sitting on?“

Interesting article but I disagree with the premise:
The protocol does not demand to display all messages.
Actually, it doesn’t make any sense even.

When I use , I do that to see pictures only. That’s the whole point.
If I want to see more, I have to use a more generic platform, like .

ploum.net/2025-12-04-pixelfed-

@thoralfThoralf Will 🇺🇦🇮🇱🇹🇼 heh, this is the same argument that can often be read for Webmentions and the Indieweb. No, it is not required to show anything received - or even acknowledge it.

Many clients don't implement all features seen on the Fedi. Like direct messages. That stuff is also silently dropped. Others don't support CW. Or emoji reaction. This is fine.

I'm also happy that my timeline isn't swamped by default with Lemmy posts, Pixelfed galleries or PeerTube videos btw. It's nice that it *can*.
