got myself a Casio CFX-9850GB Plus from eBay for just 6€ a while ago. I initially wanted to just take macro shots of its display as it also is a STN LCD. However since this thing was on my desk and is just a generally nice calculator, I have been using it as.. a calculator.. ‘:D it’s quite nice to use something with dedicated hardware buttons for all the functions you could ever need instead of using my computer, love this calculator

A slightly angled photo of a calculators matrix display. It has many symbols that might be part of an options list. They are coloured in blue, green and orange Closeup of one of the symbols with a blue green frame and red orange graph lines

have you ever considered multi-colour STN-Displays? They look fantastic and make for great macro shots!

If I’m not fully mistaken this is a so called CCSTN display that doesn’t use a filter to colour the pixels, but rather an optical effect called birefringence. This display does not dim when a different voltages are applied across its pixels, but change colour! So cool and such weird tones :3

Depending on the camera and light angles used, the colours and contrast fully change

The number 42 written in a pixelated font on an emerald green grid with pink grid lines and deep blue activated pixels. There is a shine to the image Three rectangles next to each other, one is blue, the other pale green and the third is pink. They rest on a yellow-sand coloured grid with an interesting texture. A pink bar enters the image in the bottom right corner

I think I finally managed to find a solution for the cable mess created by the five different antennas (WLAN, Bluetooth, 2xLTE, GNSS) in my Pocket Reform. Instead of pasting the antennas to the lid, I created a thin sheet of acrylic which I can then stick the antennas to. That way, opening up the Pocket Reform display plate will no longer mess with the cabling. SVG to reproduce this mod can be found in this forum post: community.mnt.re/t/cable-manag

A purple MNT Pocket Reform with the display backplate removed on a gray sofa cushion. Inside there is the RK3588 processor module on a purple carrier board. A transparent sheet of acrylic creates a frame which snugly follows the shape of the aluminium case and onto which several black antennas are pasted with yellow/golden kapton tape. Next to the Pocket Reform is a black/green screwdriver with TX6 head.

@quincy

the EU has fined X (Twitter) $140 million over "deceptive" blue checkmarks. "Deceiving users with blue checkmarks, obscuring information on ads and shutting out researchers have no place online in the EU," says the bloc’s tech chief www.theverge.com/news/645154/...
