It's considering not only online surveillance + censorship, but poor connectivity, the potential of peer-to-peer connectivity, avoiding the app store bottleneck etc.

GH-1で、たまにダイヤル回してもシャッタースピードを遅く出来ない問題、原因がわかった気がする。あまりに間抜けなのでで婉曲的にいうと、E-3でブラケット撮影がボタン2つ同時押ししないと有効化出来ないの、なんでこんな面倒な仕様なんだと思ってたがあれはfail safeなんですね。
