There would be no expectation as some privacy/'security' feature, as it would be MAY rather than SHALL, and generally just to keep databases from permanently storing superfluous ephemeral events. This would be in scope primarily with servers and not so much with affecting client behavior.

This specifically would be ideal for things of short-term or instant messaging contexts with ActivityPub; perhaps also outlining some recommended defaults. e.g. instant messages that have an expiry of 30 days, music/game scrobbling events of a 5 day expiry, etc.

Nonetheless it would help cut down clutter and make it less painful for using ActivityPub as a transport for ephemeral content too.

@blyxyasAlejandra Gonzalez if we were seriously taking about a move, i'd strongly advocate to use something like gerrit for reviews. being able to review commit-at-a-time, and having good ways of tracking the evolution of a change would be super nice as a reviewer.

Codeberg/forgejo is great, but it basically recreates github's review workflow, and I'd love to do better.

For years now, CBC - the Canadian public broadcaster - has embedded a graphic - served from Podnews's website - in theirs.

I see hundreds of hits a day for this - and, therefore, hundreds of IP address details for visitors to the CBC website, which is a bit icky.

Even though it's been a 404 error for years, I've decided to bring the file back again to see if I can stop them - because I seemingly have the capability of publishing a message on the CBC website.

I added the ability to manage property values on users' profiles to #Enigmatick. As I'm using this more as my full-time #Fediverse platform, I'm running into things that I've sort of blown off in the past as silly or unnecessary but finding useful now.

In this case, I implemented it using Add and Remove messages posted by the client (a single-page application in Svelte mediated by a wasm module) to the user's outbox on the server. The Actor is the target and the PropertyValue is the Object.

It's not canonically how those #ActivityPub messages should be used (e.g., managing a Collection - the attachment field on an Actor is not really a Collection). But I think logically it makes sense. And it's client communication only; those activities are not federated. When a profile is updated via the Add or Remove, a separate Update is sent out to known servers to update the profile.

Also, I may have gone a little overboard with my own properties.
