mnt touch reform (placeholder name) prototype which 
@theawesomerandomness put all her craft into making a reality that actually feels much nicer than it is allowed to feel (mostly pocket reform internals, and she designed the case in freecad and 3d printed and hand sculpted here. i wired up the touch overlay and hand made a button board for the side buttons).
My brain has lately been on a roll of forming malapropisms based on "like shooting fish in a barrel":
- There's plenty more fish in the barrel
- One bad fish spoils the barrel
- You can lead a fish to water but you can't make it barrel
- It's all fish under the barrel now

I don't wish to brag, but I have done zero technical support today.
I keep getting overwhelmed by my new camera. I have no idea what most of the settings mean, let alone how to use them.
Also, it’s not often someone’s bought me something I’ve wanted for a long time, so I feel worried that if I’m no good or don’t make the most of it then I’m a terrible person.
So I’m feeling grateful and seen and loved but also guilty. I shouldn’t have such a nice gift if I can’t already use it perfectly.
What a daft thing to think.

I don't celebrate holidays. ∃ much work to do for non-profit charities (for fundraising alone) in Dec. Working on holidays is standard practice for me since 2001.
My 17-year-younger cousin told me: 1ˢᵗ he saw SQL was at 12 years old & watched me all Christmas day mucking w/ #FSF's SQL donor database in 2002.
*But*, my mom, who died ≈ 10 yrs ago, loved Christmas & she hated that I worked every Christmas. So, in her memory, I listen to Christmas music all day today while working.

What I'm listening to today: "Tonverk 1.1.0 - Mas Grainer / Boom Bap + Granular Synthesis", SNDCTRL
Elektron are the kings of DAWless/desktop sequencing, but they've never made a polyphonic unit until the Tonverk this year. If the YouTube synth community is any guide this landed with a wet thud, until they added a granular synth in an update and now everybody loves it. Here a net producer tries the new mode on some experimental hip hop and hits gold on the first try
What I'm listening to today: "Untitled", Berlin Dub Sessions
Dub techno uses the sonic palette of dub reggae to make something different, and this uses the sonic palette of dub techno to make something… surprising, a series of musical riddles, dense rhythms that overtake and trip over themselves. One for the crowd that likes minimal techno and listening to dance music on headphones. Turn up the bass.

Two years ago, today
I was feeling better and no longer had a fever, but I didn't have much energy. My wife didn't have a fever at that moment, but she had zero energy. It was Christmas Day and we were alone as we didn't want to infect our parents.
We decided to take a short drive to the Po River to relax, without getting out of the car. I took this photo as a memory of that moment.
By 27th December, I would have a 'brain fog' and dizziness. She had a cough that lasted for a long time. We decided to take a test. I was negative, but I had gotten sick earlier. She was positive. It was our first time having Covid.
