To nobody’s surprise, the ICE weasel who shot a man, and a US Marshal, months ago, did so by accident because he is an incompetent nazi with inadequate training and negligent firearms handling practices.

So yeah, an ICE agent using a firearm as a hammer, in his off hand, shot another cop. Fucking loser.

✨ Over the last few weeks, I created alfred-emoji-search, which is only helpful if you love emoji and Alfred.

github.com/jefftriplett/alfred

The other emoji lookup tools were fine, but didn't cover all the shortcodes I wanted or how my brain thought search should work.

Shout-out to @hugovkHugo van Kemenade's em-keyboard, which I have bundled in now and that gets me closer.

github.com/hugovk/em-keyboard

I have more features planned, like keeping track of commonly/recently picked emojis to speed up common searches.

In a capitalist world you build a company to ship a desirable product; the more desirable, the more money you make.

In a post-capitalist world you build a company that monopolizes some commodity and forces people to do business with you. You use your excess profits to buy politicians to protect your monopoly.

In a post-capitalist world, there's no business advantage to making your product desirable.

In case you were wondering what happened to the "User Experience" world.

It's been a big year at Signal. Thanks to you, more & more people are speaking privately and freely. Thanks to you, we hit the top of app stores in multiple countries & served as critical global comms infrastructure. It's an honor to build Signal for you, with your support. 🩵

@codinghorrorJeff Atwood @raganwaldraganwald 🍓 @baldurBaldur Bjarnason If you're going to point out very high personal biases:
I haven't encountered yet a problem that needed an "spicy autocomplete" chatbot to be solved(**) instead of me typing some code in some programming language I am fluent in or just search a few keywords in manual (or publication database) (*).

(*): and thus at a fraction of the cost. Both monetary or datacenter power.

(**): the opposite is true: I've seen chatbots utterly failing at handling unusual cases.
