Saw a post this morning that blamed the Venezuela regime change on pro-Palestine people who didn’t vote for Kamala.
Putting aside the irony of blaming anti-colonialists for colonialism -
do you really think the U.S. only becomes imperialist under republican presidents and goes back to being a democracy under democrats? Is the democracy so brittle it comes down to a couple million voters to ensure it exists?
Why was it so very easy for a tyrant to gerrymander his way to power and strike down basically every legal protection we have? Where are those “checks and balances”?
We have a systemic problem, not a temporary anomaly.

Recently read Kent Beck's "Tidy First?".
I liked the overall narrative arc. This is a bit unusual in programming books.
I particularly enjoyed the discussion of NPV and options in relationship to tidying up code
I was annoyed when as I got to the end it basically started to do the tease of "there's another book coming to talk about this topic". (Not an exact quote.)
I wish he'd actually paid off his ragging on code reviews to give his take.

베네수엘라의 역사를 함께 놓고 보면 미국의 이번 행동이 독재 해방, 민주주의와는 절대 관련없다는걸 쉽게 알 수 있습니다.

As a Canadian this mornings news is extremely disturbing. The Trump administration since its earliest days has questioned the sovereignty of Canada and now its shown it has no problems ignoring the rule of law.
In all honesty Canadians should prepare themselves mentally for some form of occupation. As I say this it sounds like science fiction, I wish it were.

In my life, I have personally witnessed the equivalent of a country President getting kicked out of office by the people *twice*. And I'm not even that old.
Do not underestimate the power of large and sustained protests.
You have that power.
Protesting isn't a one-time thing.
To be effective, you need to do it again and again and again, and come with more people each time, and shout even louder each time.
But it does work.
It does change the world.
Where is the line for you?
At which point are you saying "that's enough! I have to stand up against this!" and actually go to a protest against this administration, boycott this company, or delete a social media account?
Where is the line for you to take action?
You don't have to answer here, but you should have an answer to this for yourself.
