Help with locating zines by topic, global politics (US/VE)

Does anyone know of any zines on reasons not to join the military/countering US imperialistic attitudes and behaviors? Accessible to high schoolers strongly preferred but will take literally anything. Please boost & add relevant tags if you know them! I don't do a lot of zine stuff!

The number one thing I've been hearing from people in tech lately is, basically, "How the hell am I supposed to work in this industry anymore?" Though most folks are kind of afraid to say it out loud. So I wrote about how to think about it: anildash.com/2026/01/05/a-tech

I was hoping when large media covered Mobile Fortify, the ICE facial app we revealed in June, it would add substantial information. Instead this front page WSJ piece rehashes our reporting, presents it as new attributed to officials, and forgets to capitalize M in 404 Media.

I have covered this app for months, showing where it gets data from, how it is being used on American streets, and DHS's plan to roll out a stripped down version to local police. You wouldn't get that impression from reading this piece, it would appear new to you.

You can read our original coverage here (this is about half of it):

One of the WSJ's A1 stories today was reported *6 months ago* by

uspol, trans stuff

Erin Reed has a nice piece about reasons for hope in terms of trans rights going into 2026 despite things also being bad erininthemorning.com/p/the-cas

And as for me... it's hard to tell how I feel. I def think things are less scary than they were post the Kirk shooting. And maybe anti-trans stuff is a losing strategy and the conservative coalition is crumbling?

But also, the FDA is sending threatening letters to manufacturers and distributors of *binders* of all things....

I do have to say that I feel a bit in a bind, there are some things I'm going to have to use Blender for soon, and I might have to use a separate machine to do those things, which I would prefer to not do. Most of the rest of it is fairly manageable at this point.

Suspend would also be nice.

But I would be so SAD if I moved away from the Pocket setup as my daily driver at this point, in most ways it really is what I want.

@cwebberChristine Lemmer-Webber The eternal struggle of niche open hardware projects. They're hackable, but sometimes they *need* some (potentially involved) hacking to get to where you need it to be.

The Pocket Reform with more polish (around suspend, battery life, etc) would be pretty much my ideal machine for personal use. In its current state it definitely requires some compromises. But I buy these things in part because I want to see them succeed :)
