and by a similar token (wow that turn of phrase hits different now...), some people just read any kind of pro or anti sentiment on a thing exclusively on the maximum version of that pro or anti sentiment, instead of actually trying to understand where that person is at
and so if one person says "here are three points, i dunno, seems unreasonable to me that it's impossible for there to be a fourth point" and someone else says "well obviously there won't be ten thousand points" they can... both be right?

this is something i'd love to know best practice for as well. i feel like querying your own index is more atproto-ish than hitting bsky api. one thing i'm not sure about is why you need to be logged in. i think "hide reply for everyone" state should be respected even without being logged in

I joined #mastodon last week, on a whim, with no idea what to expect
Minutes later, I was welcomed by 
@dillyd which has never happened on any other platform and was a wonderful introduction. So I posted a couple pictures of my #cats, and found, to my surprise, people reacting and interacting
Maybe it's because I'm not fighting an algorithm, or maybe I just found a place where folks truly appreciate cats. Either way, I'm very happy to be here, and I hope you're prepared for more cat pictures
