My Home Fibre Network Disintegrated, Literally - Alienchow

This morning I woke up and headed to my bomb shelter to grab the bike pump to inflate the tyres on my children’s bikes. The handle got slightly tangled up in the fibre optic cables so I lifted up the cables to free the pump. Like cookie crumbs the fibre cable’s sleeve jackets crumbled in my hands. Before I could even utter “Oh fuck no”, another section of the cable exploded outwards with thin metal wires jutting out from what seems to be like strands of white plastic threads, which I assume is the Kevlar sheath. I think I must have stood in my pseudo server room in shock for a whole minute, unable to move or process what had happened. A main component of why I was in sheer horror was the fact that I had stupidly buried all of these cables under my cement flooring in PVC trunking from my shelter to all of the rooms in the flat. If this cable fails, the connection from the server room to a specific room would be permanently severed. The room for this particular cable turned out to be my home office where my homelab MS-A2 resided.

아 진짜 10대 때부터 간간히 나를 괴롭혀온 두통은 카페인 금단증상이 맞았나봄 무설탕 무나트륨 무카페인 음료수 24캔짜리 사서 이제 당분간 음료수 안 사마셔도 되겠지 했는데 이틀만에 바로 두통 옴 설탕 잔뜩 들은 에너지 드링크 사마시니까 바로 사라짐

The weirdest part of self-hosting isn't the control, it's the silence.
I logged into my dashboard tonight via the tunnel. No banner ads. No
"suggested content" algorithms designed to doomscroll me. No tracking pixels firing off to a data broker in Utah, lol.
Just my tools, sitting there, waiting.
We really forgot what the internet feels like when it isn't trying to extract value from us every single second. It’s quiet here. I like it.

Last time I wrote about profiling in Zig on Apple Silicon, I touched on PMU counter profiling. This time I decided to go further and create my own tool to fetch all available counters for Apple Silicon processors (M1, M2, and later). Brief explanation of PMU counters PMU (Performance Monitoring Unit) counters are hardware counters that track microarchitectural events inside the CPU, e.g. executed instructions, retired operations, branches, cache misses, and more.

비나리의 새 이름... 토우카라고 표기하지만 장음이라 토―카 겠지 흠흠... 비나리가 살아남은 개체이기에 마음에 안들어도 현실과 타협할 줄 안다는게 참 좋은거같아 아무리 자존심이 강해도 사라지고 죽는 것 앞에서 그 알량함을 내세울만큼 어리석진 않아서.

被伴侶說我現實朋友幾乎沒有了，好像是什麼罪過一樣，雖然他不是這個意思 :dogsad:

朋友都沒有聯絡也不是我想的啊，大家無論家庭還是事業都進了新階段。以前朋友都是五、六個一起見面，疫情後都約不齊，慢慢就沒有再見面了

有被建議說參加一些活動，但我的興趣好像都是可以獨自完成的，而且我的性格，就算在活動中應該也不容易認識朋友吧

其實和朋友見面好像不是我理想的溝通方式。我覺得抽空和別人見面都很花時間精神，面對面我也沒有辦法做出很真摯的情感交流 :dogsad: 小站站友那種水過無痕的方式，也許對我來說才是最舒適的

想起之前伴侶說他沒辦法好好坐下來看書，覺得用這麼多時間做這種沒有產出的事好像太奢侈。我想這算是一種我們的性格差異吧

但我基本上連別人的生活方式都很少干涉

或許我比較適合當隱士吧
