당초 예상보다 20~25일 사이 밀려올 한파가 세력을 더 키우고 있는 것이 보입니다. 이틀 연속 한파 이야기를 해서 며칠 지나 예보가 안정화 된 뒤에 이야기 하려 했는데, 현 시각 기준 T+168 / T+204 / T+240 자료를 보면 한파를 막는 블로킹이 더욱 뚜렷해지고 있고, 한파의 강도 역시 더 심해지고 있는 것이 보입니다. 북미와 동아시아가 동시에 얼어붙을 것으로 보입니다. 다음주부터 정말 주의해야 할 시기가 찾아올걸로 예상되는데요. 최소 1주일 이상의 극한 혹한이 예상됩니다. 일단 계속 추적하며 상황을 공유드리겠습니다.
씁쓸한 기분을 뒤로 하고 예보를 이어가보겠습니다. 오늘은 저기압의 영향으로 대체로 흐린 가운데 오후부터 저기압의 영향에서 벗어나며 점차 맑아지겠습니다. 새벽부터 일부 지역에 내린 비는 오전 중 대체로 그치겠습니다. 오늘 아침 최저기온은 -3~10℃로 크게 오르고, 낮 최고기온 역시 5~18℃로 예상됩니다. 주요 도시별로는 서울 3~8℃, 대전 5~13℃, 대구 1~16℃, 광주 6~15℃, 부산 9~15℃, 제주 10~18℃로 예상됩니다. 하지만 이렇게 풀리는 날씨는 곧 끝날걸로 예상됩니다. 우려한대로 진짜가 오기 때문입니다.
자국의 경제만을 위한다는 명분으로 과거 보우소나루 정부 시절, 극심한 아마존 개발 정책으로 파괴된 산림이 지구에 어떤 영향을 주고 있는지 우리는 생각해봐야 합니다.
하지만 단순히 이를 도덕적 잣대로만 비난할 수도 없습니다. 당연히 보존과 개발은 조금씩 같이 추구해야겠지만, 누군가에겐 개발과 경제적 요인이 더 급할 수도 있고, 상대적으로 부유한 나라에서는 이를 일종의 비관세무역장벽으로 만들어 개도국이 발전하는 것을 막는 장치로도 쓰기도 했으니까요.
그래서 국가간의 협력이 필요하고, 양보가 필요한 것입니다. 그 질서가 망가진거에요.

거기다 지구온난화로 인해 북극 해빙이 과도하게 녹아내리며 심화된 편서풍 사행이 한랭건조한 시베리아 고기압을 확장시켜 고비사막 인근을 더욱 건조하게 만들었습니다. 구조적으로 취약해질 수 밖에 없는 상황이 되었습니다. 미세먼지는 단순히 고등어 때문도 아닙니다. 한 나라만의 잘못도 아닙니다. 모두 협력해야 할 일입니다. 하지만 저기 어떤 나라에서는 유엔 기후변화협약, 기후변화에 관한 정부간 협의체 등에서 탈퇴하고 있습니다. 그 뿐만이 아닙니다. 유엔 해비타트 등에서도 탈퇴했는데, 문제는 이들 지원 없이는 기후위기가 더 빨라진다는겁니다.

문득 39년 전 어제 있었던 일을 떠올려봅니다. 하루 지나버려 제대로 된 추모는 하지 못하지만, 그가 썼던 편지 한 구절을 떠올리며 다시금 눈물을 훔칩니다. "이렇게 더운 날씨에 비치 파라솔 밑에서 선글라스 끼고 한가하게 피서 즐기는 사람이 있는가 하면, 잘 먹고 잘 놀아서 피둥피둥 찐 살을 빼느라고 사우나탕, 헬스클럽 다니면서 땀 흘리는 사람이 있는가 하면, 삼복더위에 라면으로 끼니 때우며 먼지와 기름 냄새로 가득찬 무더운 작업장에서 묵묵히 땀 흘리며 일하는 노동자들이 있습니다. 이런 노동자들에 비하면 저는 신선 놀음입니다."

Gorgeous antique 8-Lever "Mastodon" steel padlock, picked in ~7 seconds, using homemade tools fashioned out of recycled bike spokes.
This is the second of two beautiful antique locks my partner gave me as a present.
The reason this opened so quickly is because several of the levers are rusted in place, and I bypassed the remaining ones and pushed the locking pawls out of the way directly.

I used #Thunderbird for all of my work mail because I hate the Gmail interface and I've long suspected that Google deliberately throttle IMAP to push you towards the web. Well, for the last week I've been trying the mail client built-in to #Vivaldi - and I owe Google an apology. Vivaldi's client is fast and responsive where Thunderbird often grinds to a halt. So my assumption is that Thunderbird handles locally-cached mail poorly. Regular "Compact" operations don't help. This makes me sad.
