I spent 7 years working on @PixelFed almost daily, and I've wanted to build an app ever since.

I'm a PHP/JS dev though, and thought it was impossible.

So I forked a react-native pixelfed client in 2023 and slowly learned.

Then I shipped a beta that fall, and rewrote it in late 2024 with a public app store release in early 2025.

That was so huge for me, I always wanted to build an app, but never thought I was good enough.

Stop doubting yourself, you can do it, and so much more 💪

I believe ❤️

Oh, look, I’ve been tasked by the Executive Director of the Python Software Foundation with a secret mission to personally purchase (?) gift cards (??) for top performers (???) that I would be reimbursed for (????) after I sent the list of codes over email in a spreadsheet (?????).

This is an obvious scam attempt, those emails were never from Deb Nicholson, but I led the scammer on to see what was gonna happen. DON’T GET SCAMMED, PEOPLE!

For non-German speakers:

“Dear media, I can’t stand the headline "No agreement between the US and Denmark” any longer. If an armed man storms a bank, you don't run the headline: "Robber and cashier can't reach an agreement on money transfer." Stop framing imperial aggression as normal diplomacy.” mastodon.social/@LorenzMeyer/1

(WirelessWire & Schrödinger's)
wirelesswire.jp/2026/01/92263/

RE: mastodon.social/@dansup/115899

That being said, there is a point where criticism is valid.

Like when I used a Terms of Service generator for Loops.video and got called out.

I did fix it though, and while some doubted my intentions, and thought I'd keep it closed source after the Kickstarter, I worked my butt off to ship the entire platform (w/ mobile apps) and make it federated with a better default Terms of Service.

But it was tough seeing so much criticism and doubt.

It should be clear by now I'm on your side ❤️
