Google: "We found that this gambling ad doesn't violate our policies against gambling ads, but you can personalise your ad experience to block the kinds of ads you don't want."

Me: "So, can I block gambling ads?"

Google: "No, we don't allow gambling ads so a toggle to block gambling ads doesn't make sense. What are you talking about?"

RE: theforkiverse.com/@Lukewater/1

This has got to be some sort of marketing scam right? I read all the copy from the website and it doesn't say what sort of biological neurons they are talking about. They can't be human so who's neurons are they? It's fake right? I have yet to even look this up yet so only this post and the website its refering to are what I have seen.

Shit posting about Iran is a hot topic on social media.

They made up 2000 deaths, then over night it jumped to 12000 and now they claim it's 20000 deaths in 3 days.

And of course TikTok is pushing them on every account.

A lot of fake posts, AI videos and AI images are paid ads by new accounts created in the past 10 days.

In the mean time, tRump and EU putting more sanctions on Iran, making life more miserable for the people.

I'm doing some maintenance on things and realized that while I still use CR2032 batteries all the time, I can't remember the last time I used one for CMOS. So it got me curious:

What non-computer thing do you use the most CR2032s on?

Cloud as in "not in my house if it floods or catches fire, or on my personal devices if they break or get stolen, and on a server I don't have to maintain" is actually a good thing.

Cloud as in "I have no choice about where it's stored, I can't take my ball and go home, and the money I pay goes to my enemies" is a bad thing.

Beware of Rugged Individualism, I guess

Trump has been wanting to invoke the insurrection act so he can declare martial law since January 6. That’s exactly what that day was about but he failed and now he’s gonna do it in Minneapolis.

Once he declares the insurrection act in one city it’ll be another city and another city, he will declare martial law and he will call off the elections.

Didn’t notice we’re not talking about the Epstein files this week because that’s what this is all about.

The citicism of this Wikimedia deal makes no sense to me. AI companies were already using Wikipedia for training data — as clearly allowed by Wikipedia’s license! Yet somehow it’s worse that they give some money back instead of continuing to freeload?

One of these guys, after failing to become a millionaire, joined a writers group that I had somehow come to lead after all the founders disappeared. He wrote a memoir of how he went from being a Harvard frat kid most interested in getting ripped lats to becoming a passionate creative tech weirdo. Naturally it all flowed through riding a bike. Interesting cat!

It's worse than I thought

@anildash : "I talk to young founders these days and for them, there’s no other world than the Trump world. I ask them what inspired them to go into tech and they say they read Marc Andreessen’s manifesto, they read Peter Thiel’s books, and I think, “Oh, your brain’s cooked.” They come in pre-pickled. But everyone else who could have told an alternate narrative has been hounded out of the industry."
