OK, so. As if the Trump regime hadn’t already dumped enough of their shit on us here in Minneapolis…there’s now talk about them sending •active duty military• to invade (“protect”) our city.
Maybe this is bluster. Maybe this is testing the waters. We have no idea how real these plans are, or if or when this would actually happen. I don’t think the regime does either. Regardless, we take this threat seriously: they’re stupid enough they just might do it. This nightmare could get worse.

If I look back to my 2003-05 posts, there’s a looseness to them — I think it was mostly endearing, but sometimes embarrassing (eg recalling my “Liv Tyler waved at me” post after the ‘Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’ movie premiere in Wellington, Dec 2003). Anyway, from 2006 my writing style formalized, became more journalistic…
2/2 But in the AI era, I am purposely going more ‘human’ again. Given the deluge of AI slop out there, the best way I can stand out as a journalist is to lean in even more on my humanity. To double down on subjectivity, draw on my human experiences and instincts, tap into my emotions and feelings, and convey my ‘soul’ in my writing (not to be too Dostoyevsky about it, but you get my drift). Over time, I hope the web - & Google - will reward this over all the AI slop that is getting published.

But to confirm the authenticity, the receiving server has to fetch the sender's cryptographic key... which has also been deleted! It's possible to make some guesses here, but it's a pain and most receiving servers will just return an error. Unfortunately, the sending server will just keep sending the deletion notification.

I used to await, eagerly, the release of new Personal Digital Assistants, to see what the new models would bring. I loved my Tungsten T3. The LOOX T830 was a bit odd, but it suited me.
I loved netbooks, and the incremental improvements in small, relatively cheap, computing.
I can't think of anything, tech-wise, that brings me that kind of excitement any more.
Another shiny rectangle with a tweaked camera.
A slightly faster ThinkPad.
And so on.
