Why does this Apple Music setting lump together 5G and wifi? Is there some way I'm missing to have maximum quality on wifi and not on 5G? (I realize that I almost surely can't hear the difference with lossless, but that's not the point. It's just bizarre that they combine this into a single setting.)

🧵1/7: A on / / .

Following @GargronEugen Rochko's decision to opt out of the Bluesky bridge, most likely driven by the platform's official verification of the account, and one last pointless interaction with a Bluesky account holder,
I decided to follow suit & sever my own Bluesky ties. I realised the idea of echo chambers was probably a myth invented by the giant platforms to prevent users from fleeing. Let me explain.

There was no legal compulsion for the Eight Circuit today to administratively stay the trial judge’s temporary restraining order. Grant or withholding of an administrative stay is discretionary. But apparently the 8th Circuit is more concerned with giving permission to ICE continue marauding than with any effort to check it, however temporarily. 6/

I try to strike a balance between sharing disturbing eyewitness reports from Minneapolis and doing what I can to make sure that we on the side of American Democracy know what the Republican Fascist forces are doing there. These comments are from a Minneapolis activist I trust, who is active on Bluesky. Reports like this are why I keep urging folks to do whatever they can to support the people of Minneapolis.

Bug Bounties have always been a sort of medium-value program. They do generate measurable security improvement, reliably — more than can be said for many security programs! — but they also cost a lot of time in triage, reproduction and communication. Historically the juice has been worth the squeeze, but with the rise of slop reports that’s no longer true. I suspect we’ll see a lot more bounty programs quietly (or loudly) end soon. cyberplace.social/@GossiTheDog

Great blog post by @mahryekuhMarijke Luttekes on the discussion of lightweight websites.

I've been meaning to write about how I think big events like conferences should have a static site version of their website available in addition to any kind of dynamic one.

Internet on expo halls and other large venues is usually pretty bad when there are hundreds or thousands of people and being able to get the important info on a spotty wifi from a static site is quality of life improvement.
