I've worked here for almost eight years and only filled up 2/9ths of the shelves. At this rate I need to work here for another, uh, 28 years before they're full. Or increase my rate of plant, tchotchke, and/or distinguished paper award acquisition.

My office wall, covered in wall-mounted shelves. Most of them are empty, but a few are taken up by books, plants, pictures of my kid, awards, and other doodads. Also visible are my bike and the back of an office chair.

2 of them even seemed to be Vibe Coding.

I have been programming for over 30 years. I am probably not going to Vibe Code, but —

I wonder if we should help them.

There are tools we (Fediverse developers) could create to make it so others could Vibe Code Fediverse apps.

Just learned about uvx.sh/ from Django News as a way to install any Python project via the `curl ... | <shell>` pattern. Clever solution to auto-generate the shell script to download Python and the project to install it into a virtual environment on your PATH. If this catches on I wonder if it will lead to projects trying to self-update? Or will projects not written in Python start going up on PyPI to piggyback on the infrastructure?

A wonderful twist on being an open source maintainer is when the person engaging poorly and violating the CoC is a security reporter with some valid observations.

You now have conflicting responsibilities to users' security and to your and your community's safety.
