RE: tech.lgbt/@JadedBlueEyes/11596

Cloudflare, who certainly has enough resources to *not* pull this kind of bullshit, wastes peoples' time and disrespects people actually working on decentralized networking tech by acting like a pile of vibe coded slop running on top of their proprietary infrastructure is a legit implementation of a protocol.

Deeply insulting. Props to @JadedBlueEyesJade for calling this out (and for actually doing real implementation work on Matrix tech).

Cloudflare just published a vibe coded blog post claiming they implemented Matrix on cloudflare workers. They didn't, their post and README is AI generated and the code doesn't do any of the core parts of matrix that make it secure and interoperable. Instead it's littered with 'TODO: Check authorisation' and similar

I've solved about 20 traffic photo Captchas so far and I'm still getting new ones to solve.

There are lots of trickster bugs out there, but this one is one of the strangest. A blowfly larva (Rhyncomya sp) has evolved to mimic termites in appearance, chemical profile, and even behavior to fully socially integrate within the nests. The long papillae imitate termite antennae, allowing for communication with multiple individuals at once. They release pheromones that are indistinguishable from the termites' scent and even partake in grooming activities. They grow fat on termite labor before pupating and flying away.

Of course, the whole thing is backwards - what looks like red eyes on its face is actually breathing holes on its butt!

Watercolor of a white grubby thing with lots of squiggly brown appendages and two spots that look like eyes.

I guess it's probably always been obvious to a lot of people, but lately it's just become ridiculous that people use the term "leader" to describe a politician. These people are followers, and laggardly ones at that. The people of Minnesota have done more against the Trump regime than Schumer has ever even considered in his entire life.

When people were sounding the alarm bells at the start of the year, what was Schumer doing? Promoting his book tour and voting for cloture on the continuing resolution measure, effectively keeping the government open and paving the way for the infamous ICE/DHS funding bill, making them one of the most well funded paramilitaries in the entire world

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/government-shutdown-2025-senate-democrats-vote/

And how many disappearances and bodies have piled up since then? How many have been kidnapped? These people aren't "leaders". Fuck them. They follow the money until it becomes blindingly obvious that they're fucking up by doing so (people striking or threatening to strike, protests that cannot be so easily ignored) at which point they spend all their energy crafting words and bills that they think will soothe the raw nerves of the people without actually saying "no" to the moneyed interests.

Schumer may be in a position of authority and have power, but he's not a leader. Fuck that whole idea.

Alright Mastodon, I'm looking for work.

Senior software developer, specializing in low-level, embedded, and systems programming. Previous work includes video compression (developer on AV1 and AV2), silicon verification, and scientific/numerical software. Full CV/resume available on request.

Primarily looking for remote work, but would consider in-person in the UK if the circumstances are right.

Available for either contract work through the company I run (easiest route if you're outside the UK), or direct employment.

Tagging for visibility.

I don't know what the real truth is about iOS 26 adoption, but I do know that when people started talking about it recently, Apple immediately started sending me daily update notifications on all of my devices. Seems like maybe they think it's too low right now.

something fun is at the beginning of my career I thought "making websites seems boring, I want to do cool things like machine learning or networking or systems stuff"

and now I'm into making websites again and having fun with learning basic stuff like "how to make a data model" :)

The new CTO, started today, has decided that I am not necessary for his plans to introduce AI into the software development cycle.

I guess that’s me on the job market.

- 35+ years experience
- Ops: AWS certified, bare metal, VMs, containers, IaC. No k8s.
- SWE: DDD, TDD, architecture, design, OOP, backend or frontend
- Typescript, Python, PHP, Go, Java
- Django, FastAPI, MySQL, Postgres, Ansible, Terraform and others
- In my last role I reduced delivery from 6-8 weeks to a weekly cadence with fewer bugs by introducing acceptance tests using Playwright, units tests with TDD, the Ports and Adaptors pattern to isolate and test business logic, a Kanban board to improve flow, and humanity into the daily standup. I mentored junior developers, started a weekly book club, and ran workshops to elevate the quality of the entire team.
- I am currently reading Frictionless (Forsgren, Noda) and The Real World of Technology (Franklin)
