Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

I've been fantasizing about a snippet library for validating and canonicalizing a fediverse (AP+WebFinger) handle. Drop in a handle/profile link/AP ID, receive full handle + web link if the input is resolvable.
Target audience would be sites that don't have full fediverse integration, but want to give people a way to link to their fediverse profile. I've seen handle vs. username vs. ID vs. URL cause confusion.
Should be <50 LOC in most languages. And let's make it CC-0.

We are excited to share that we are beginning work on a new onboarding experiment for #Mastodon: Default Server Recommendations.
Our intent for this experiment is to recommend the closest server geographically that is in the correct language during the sign-up flow. We will be running this experiment on our iOS and Android apps only to start.

I'm timekeeping in the #SocialWeb devroom at #FOSDEM today, and I'm gutted that so far *everyone* has been on time and I've not had to use my "Time's Up" card. Closest was 10 seconds to go.
Still, my talk's coming up, so whoever takes over timekeeping will be able to use it on me, no doubt.

연신 요구르트를 들이키면서 겨우 먹었죠.
