Well fun. I have an OpaquePointer and UnsafeMutablePointer from a system interface that I have to pass around/use, and I've discovered pointer types are non-sendable in Swift Concurrency. So it looks like I'm going to have to do a major redesign in order to get to Swift 6 by coming up with some sort of actor-based framework.

The interesting thing is I already can envision some major code structure improvements due to this, assuming I can get it all to work.

My tragicomic afternoon: I had to go out, but since this morning they have been digging up the road in front of my house for works (FTTH?), and at that moment a huge pile of dirt was blocking the street. Without telling anyone they'd block the road for hours. But I had to pass, so I had to do an absurd maneuver to get out from my home and, in any case, add a few extra kilometers to the route.

When I came back, I saw an apocalyptic scene: they had broken an important water pipe, so the road was full of water and, with it gushing out, it basically flooded and soaked my entire garden. I did manage to get back in.

Meanwhile, while I was in the garage, I noticed that a pigeon had left a souvenir on the car. I grabbed a piece of damp toilet paper and cleaned it. Then I went to throw it into the toilet and dropped the car key into the toilet (clean). I rushed and took the whole key apart. It was in the water for less than a second and, fortunately, it did not get into the electronic part. Or at least it still works.

Now I go to wash my hands and there is no water. I can hear them working in the street.
They did not notify anyone and cut off the water right at dinnertime.

I think it is better to have dinner and head straight to bed 🙂

So I did a comedic trip on a pavement to launch my phone some distance and so need a new phone. Last time I checked the pixel 5 was still my preferred choice, its small, light, plastic back (less glass to crack), stock android and cheap. Anything better?

Been running through the FreeBSD installer multiple times for debugging and testing the OpenZFS book, and realized:

much of the learning curve could be eliminated by adding two options in the disk setup menu: "Single Disk ZFS" and "Single Disk UFS." Select one of those, and the most confusing part goes away.

When using ZFS as the file system the "df" command is reporting the pool size
and not file system sizes. It also does not know about descendent ZFS
datasets, snapshots, quotas, and reservations with their individual space usage.
Use the built-in "zfs list" command to get a better overview of space usage:

zfs list -o space

the 1975 ammendment to the Voting Rights Act (Section 4e) banned linguistic discrimination, giving millions of migrants, including Europeans, the right to vote in their language.

it’s why section 4(e) is called THE 🇵🇷 PUERTO RICAN AMENDMENT. we shut that shit down after 80 years of lawsuits.

It is hard to see more people saying that they are being harassed, or otherwise don't feel safe, in the fediverse.

I am *not* on the receiving end of abuse here, which makes it even harder to see others having such a rubbish experience.

Especially because of what I suspect to be the reasons for such a different experience.

I feel like social media is antithetical to the development (so far) of the human brains of many. I am not smart enough to fix it or even really understand it.

My theory is in no way trying to diminish your suffering, but to point our that you have done nothing wrong, and the people being rude to you are defective and/or deficient.

I dream of being able to store my online social presence, identity, and history just as — an (organized) set of static files.

A set that I control.

And, I can (if I want to) host myself. (I.e., I am the "source of truth" / "origin" for my files.)

3/ If you cannot get (most) regular people to write JSON-LD, JSON, or even HTML — But, you might be able to get them (regular people) to write something similar to Markdown and INI — Then, are there ways you could (explicitly or implicitly) encode JSON-LD type information, such as ActivityPub, into a Markdown-like to INI-like file — in a way where they (regular people) would likely include it?
