I should just hold a funeral for the the collective brain-rot that LLM technology has caused in many of my friends and peers instead of getting riled up on each new instance, but they keep out-doing themselves and I cannot help myself.

But you can explicitly try to build better psychological affordances for yourself and in doing so, create moments and places you are not in this threat state. It's possible. It's necessary. Tech rarely takes the human cost of change seriously but you can

This is not a doom & gloom moment for me. I believe strongly that folks in tech have pre-existing values and strengths that have not always been at the forefront but that are right for this moment: beliefs that anyone can succeed, that we can navigate change, that creativity can transform our lives

An agent now builds a 200.000 lines of code C compiler from scratch that can compile the Linux kernel. In two weeks. I think at this point it's hard to argue against the tremendous productivity gains that this technology has created for my industry.

something I'm struggling to understand about browser security is why you can send cross-origin POST requests with the user's cookies with a form, but the exact same fetch() call won't include the cookies

(I mean it's clear why we would NOT want to include the cookies, but it feels weird that it's allowed in one context but not in another)
