部屋が寒い人は窓を簡易二重窓にしたらいいよ。うちの部屋も寒かったから窓を二重窓にして、使わない窓に断熱材をハメたら体感ではっきりわかるぐらい改善されたからおすすめ。
注意としては、簡易窓はポリカーボネートかアクリルにしてください。自分は最初、プラダンで作ったのだけど、ある日突然、粉々に砕けます。紫外線でプラスチックが劣化したのだけど、あれはびっくりした。

Když si vzpomenu, že předchozí cenu Hugo získala kniha Cyteen od Carolyn J. Cherryh, byl to přece jen velký skok.
Pak Nuit d'été a poté narazím na L'Échiquier du mal, kterou sotva dokážu dočíst, protože mě tak znechucuje. Shrnu vám to: skupina ultra bohatých a ultra mocných mutantů vystavuje své oběti stovkám hrůz na soukromém ostrově toho nejmocnějšího z nich. Hm. (V této chvíli už asi tušíte, kam mířím.) Jsou poraženi hubeným a karikaturním židovským pánem, vypravěčem, ke kterému autor špatně skrývá svou antipatii.
Protože Simmons je fascinován svými monstry, mocí, hierarchií a extrémním násilím. U něj se metafyzický závrat a formální virtuozita snoubí s požitkářstvím v hrůze, misogynie a obecné misantropii, které zanechávají kovovou pachuť v ústech.
(Naopak Cherryh v Cyteen také pracovala s mocí, manipulací, sociální inženýrstvím, ale zevnitř systémů, s reálnou morální nejednoznačností a pozorností věnovanou spíše strukturám než nadlidským bytostem. Méně spektakulární, více korozivní. A především mnohem humanističtější. Ale to není těžké, řeknete si.)
V každém případě, zatímco některé temné texty vám dávají pocit, že vás provázejí hrůzou, abyste ji pochopili, abyste byli varováni, jiné vás do ní vtahují, abyste ji konzumovali. A vy z ní vycházíte zablácení, nemocní, zahořklí.

The Department of Defense has quietly signed a $210 million deal to buy advanced cluster shells from one of Israel’s state-owned arms companies, marking unusually large new commitments to a class of weapons and an Israeli defense establishment.

I'm planning on hibernating this weekend. It's far too cold, wet, and miserable. I made fresh bread last night and it's taking all my energy not to get up and have some toast and bacon.
I'm trying to laze in bed a little longer and inhale the Internet - what did I miss overnight? (for context it's currently 8:24am in Scotland). I realise many of you will still be sleeping as you're over the pond. We're preparing your Saturday! There are those who will have had their day already - not sure if I have followers from Australia (do wave if I have).

There is a general acceptance across the NHS that staff shortages are a major element in the current treatment crisis (typified but not limited to waiting list lengths/times), and as a result the issue of the NHS workforce planning has come under scrutiny.
This is all well & good, but while the budget remains consternated, what is *actually* happening across the health service is widespread but piecemeal ban on hiring doctors due to budget constraints.
